Odd front ILB run fits

All 3-4 and 3-3-5 okie

So I switched to the odd fronts this year. I always user the MLB or ILB. In NCAA 2012, what are the run fits for the 2 ILB in the 3-4 defenses.

My current fits are :

If the flow is play side, fill the “C” gap
If the flow is away fill the other “A” gap
If the play is towards (dives/ISO…) fill the “A” I am line up in.

Usually works but sometime the other MLB is late to fill the “A” gap and get blocked. I end up giving up the cutback lane.

If anyone plays as an ILB in a 3-4 /3-3-5 okie defense, what are your run fits? Base D, not blitz

Ace Big HB Dive?

I played a guy that ran this over and over and I couldn't stop it consistently! I tried everything and nothing seemed to work... the frustrating part was it was at least 5yds a pop! The RB always fell forward in that slow animation...

The guy only ran this and speed option with the QB from Ace Big! I tried 3-4,4-3,4-4,5-2, and 3-3-5 none of them worked! I spread the line and LB's and Pinched the line and LB's and nothing worked! On 3 man line and 4-4 he would audible to speed option and on the others he just ran the Dive.

Am I missing something here?

The HB Dive seemed very over powered... I watched the replays after the game and the O-line always held their blocks no one came off a block the entire game. That is unheard of in this game...not once did my guys split a dbl team and RB's at TE pancaked my LB's all game long. I went into practice after our game running just Ace Big HB Dive and not once did the cpu stop me for no gain or a loss of yds! Only once did a linemen split a dbl team and even that play was a 10 yd gain!

Is this run over powered or am I going about it the wrong way? I've played people who run this but not every play of course!

Help me pick an O and D playbook!

I'm rather new to NCAA. I used to play Madden online and tried to learn as much as I could so I could be fairly competitive, but that was in years past...08-10...Stopped playing after that. Just recently picked up NCAA 12 and I'm in love with the game (first time buying it), but I'm having a hard time finding my identity.

I'll try to explain what I like to do on O and D to help with suggestions. On offense I like to utilize formations where the defense can't be sure if I'll run or pass. I like to run the ball, but I'm not quite good enough at passing it yet to come back with it if someone stops my run, so I don't do too well with playbooks that have a lot of heavy run formations. On D I like to play a lot of zone. The team I'm currently using is West Virginia, but if I'm open to using other teams if they fit what I'm asking for better.

I've been trying the Run and Shoot PB for O and 335 for D, and they've been alright, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any better ideas for me. I'd go find out for myself, but there are an incredible number of playbooks in this game, and I feel that you guys probably have experience in this area

QB ratings skewed?

Anyone taken any time to notice the difference?

I've been drafting balanced and scrambling QB's because I like the mobility... but, I'm starting to notice something... Most scrambling QB's don't have high accuracy or throwing power which is expected! But, on the other hand I'm noticing pocket passing QB's with high accuracy and throw power aren't always a good thing either!

Example, I have two QB's in one OD I'm in... a scrambler and a pocket passer. Both are RS Seniors and I've been going back and forth between the two all season.

Here's their numbers...
Scrambling QB

93 Ovr

92 spd 84 acc

78 awr 89 thp 89 tha

Pocket passer QB

88 Ovr

60 spd 70 acc

68 awr 94 thp 94 tha

Now here's the problem... The scrambling QB can make all the deep throws but floats short passes. The pocket passer makes all the short throws but floats everything over 15 yds down field! This of course drives me crazy!

I'm guessing it's the 68 awr of the pocket passer that hurts his deep ball? But what's the problem with the scrambling QB throwing short passes?

Anyone else notice this?

I had a 81 thp and 81 tha QB that could make all the throws in a 1* OD why can't these guys make the throws on a 6* team?

How many passing concepts?

I'm working on a new KISS (keep it simple stupid) offensive attack... In this attack i'm using two passing concepts. The idea is to be able to attack cover 2 or cover 3 from every formation or look I come out in. I want the defense to see one thing from the formation whether it be run or pass but, from each play I can attack cover 2 or 3 or run.

I run a pro style offense... so, the idea (scheme) is creating ways to stretch a defense without them seeing it coming... I want to put myself in optimal position to score or move the chains every play! The two concepts i'm using are very simple but, also hard to defend if, I read the defense correctly.

I want to stress the defense... mainly the safeties on every passing play.. on each pass the safety has to choose... and either choice leaves an open receiver. By using pro formations... if the defense starts playing nickle or dime to combat the attack, I can just pound them because the formations are power run sets.

So far against the cpu the scheme is working well... but, I have yet to use it against a user! I'm not the greatest passer so two concepts is about all I can work into my weakness of seeing the field.

Is this what most here do look to attack cover 2 or 3 each play or more along trying to force the defense in to either and then attacking it?

Tight End seem routes....more miss than hit?

I love using TE's in my offense.. But, In previous yrs it seemed TE's created more match up problems than they do in this yrs game. I would kill people with my TE's kinda like New England does in real world. This yr It seems the routes are a bit different and you can't motion them from as many formations to get them mismatches.

Anyway, I find that I get my TE's running free on a lot of seem routes but, can rarely get the ball to them unless they aren't covered! I'm watching my TE's running 3-5 yds ahead of the defender but, if i lob it the safety has time to come over and make the pick. If I try to fit it in over the defender... it usually triggers that over the shoulder pick animation. I've watched EA you tube vids that say you should press up on the left stick and either lob or gun it! The lob has worked so has gunning it but, more times than not it's a over throw or a Pick with the latter being the norm...

Anyone having better success with TE seem routes... any advice on completing them more?

Option Routes... do they work?

I'm curious..

I was reading an article over on smart football that dealt with option routes. It got me to thinking about looking at option routes more. I know a lot of things are broken on this game so, before I dig deeper into running them I thought I'd ask.

I know guys like Salukifan have expertise on this type of concepts being a RNS guy!

Any info on option routes and how they work in this game would be greatly appreciated!

Running the ball against odd fronts.

I'm not real big on running power runs, counters, misdirection type stuff from under-center. (more draws, stretch, dives, etc.) but against odd fronts it seems like the best way to have a consistent power running game is to always out-man the odd fronts at the point of attack with 11 & 12 personnel as well as 21 personnel and mainly calling those type of runs. It's a tricky defense to go up against for me because I rely on a strong inside run game with the inside zone being my staple run play. I've had to go from a balanced shotgun spread to run offense to more of a pro-style spread with multiple formations under center and out of the shotgun because it's hard to out-man the odd front at the point of attack when the offense is just as balanced as the defense. (A guard and tackle on both sides of the center against the balanced front). I've had to really break the balance by using a TE to create an extra gap in the run game and force another defender to come in and leverage that gap.
