You know Chubby Checker got all the credit for "The Twist", but this was written by Hank Ballard of Hank Ballard and The Midnighters, but I digress. I loved those songs and my band played many of them. Here's one, not by the original, Lloyd Price, but by The Isley Brothers, great none-the-less. Ah, take me back to playing at the sock hop.

Dick Dale and the Deltones. He played left handed and played with the strings upside down. Don't know quite why he did this, but he took a left handed guitar and turned the strings around. He really wasn't much of a guitar player, but did okay with what he was doing, simple surf stuff. Song is called "Misirlou". We played it better.

The Chantays performing "Pipeline" on the Lawrence Welk Show in '63. Man, my mom and dad would NOT MISS this program on Saturday night. I remember watching it because the guitar player would sometimes do a song with the orchestra backing him up, but otherwise, polka songs were not for me.

The VERY sexy Ronettes. How this beautiful lead singer ever got hooked up with Phil Specter and married him is beyond me.

The Crystals were another good looking girl group produced by the freaky looking Phil Specter, above. Certainly as worthy as The Ronettes with hits like Uptown, Da Do Ron Ron (below song), He's a Rebel, The Boy I Love.....They are deserving of the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

Dick Dale should be shot for wearing his hair like that. Good thing a good guitar player like Stevie is covering for him. He was an okay guitar player.

The Ronettes doing "Be My Baby" on a different show followed by a rousing version of "Shout", originally done by the Isle Brothers. Hey, I'm a sucker for The Ronettes.
