Thanks, I'll watch that segment again.

Re: Raw 1000

I don't think EVERYONE knows who Steve Austin is compared to Hogan or Rock, but I'd be willing to bet a ton of people who aren't wrestling fans know who he is.

Ric Flair, slightly less so.

Re: Raw 1000

Yeah, Austin's not on Rock or Hogan's level, but those two are mega stars. I'd say Austin is still huge, given how many people in their 20s-30s now did grow up watching during that era, not to mention the mainstream appeal and appearances during the era.

Flair is probably on that same level in the South, people's parents and grandparents probably watched Flair and passed him down to their kids. All 4 of them (Rock, Hogan, Austin, and Flair) are icons. Not to be morbid, but just remember how much coverage Macho Man's death drew, and he wasn't even as big as Hogan. I'd say Austin and Flair are on that same level of transcendence.

That's a good point too. A TON of non-wrestling fans know/knew who Macho Man was.

Austin also didn't have as long as a run as the other guys due to the injuries and him going bat**** crazy there for a little while too.

Because of that, he's not as big as a Rock or Hogan but in the late 90's, at his peak, he was huge.

But if a guy like "CM Punk" (with that name too) can become the face of the company, I don't see why Dolph can't possibly have as much of an impact.
Punk was/never will be the face of the company as long as cena is around...when was the last time punk main event in a ppv?

Dolph needs to dump Vicki...

Also I do remember SCSA as the "million dollar champion" Steve Williams. Until the Attitude era started, he also was going nowhere.

I agree about Dolph. I was really surprised when he beat Swagger for Vicki's services. I think Dolph has gone as far as he can with Vicki, and Swagger really needed her.

A ton of people did get exposure to Macho Man, simply because of the Slim Jim commercials back in the day.

I would agree Austin is probably on that level, with Flair close behind him. The reality show Austin has now, opened him up, even if just from people seeing the commercials.

I think they keep Vicky around so that he continues to get heat.
