I don't know, I think Khali was a good choice with what they have. He's the scariest guy on the roster and the crowd buys him.

I don't even want to see him lose on Sunday. I'd keep the belt on him until SummerSlam. The three way on Sunday is gonna suck hard, though. [Reply]

I, on the other hand, find...err...well, found Smackdown to be the most entertaining show on TV, but they're ruining it fast. First they raided the roster. Now their top guy goes down and they put the title on KHALI?! WTF.

Why not Hardy? Finlay? MVP? Yeah, maybe they haven't been built to main event status yet, but they have the skills and we could use a surprise occasionally.

How about Flair? Sure the guy's 60 y/o and needs to be carried every match, but even at 60 he can wrestle circles around Khali.

And my biggest question, why not bring Kennedy back to Smackdown? He's getting forgotten about on Raw and he has a TON of talent. Plus, how fitting would have it been if Edge took MITB from Kennedy due to Kennedy's injury...and then Kennedy to get revenge and win the title from Edge due to Edge's injury.

Oh well, Smackdown just came down a huge notch with the new champ. I think I'll be fast forwarding through the show every Saturday so I can get my MVP/Hardy/Finlay matches of the week, and then just delete it.

Sadly, I think ECW is my favorite WWE show right now.

That is very true, that there are only a few of us that post in a SD thread when we remember to create one. LOL! I won't deny that someone like Matt Hardy, Fit Finlay, or Ric Flair would have been better World Champions. This would have been a perfect opportunity to give Ric Flair one final run with a World Title before his career almost comes to a close.

Khali would have been a stronger World Champion back in May when he was on a hot roll against John Cena. Then the draft comes along after Khali was demolished by Cena a few times and he is shipped to SD!. I don't know if I can really take Craptista as champion again though. If anything, I would like to see Kane get the title for one more run on Sunday night. [Reply]

Dude, I love talking rasslin' with you but I don't know if your thinking this through. Matt Hardy's would-be push would be killed. Remember when Randy Orton won the title too early? Hardy is perfectly on pace to win it this time next year, I wouldn't want to mess with that. Same with MVP.

Finlay? Well I don't know. The crowd buys Khali despite his two Cena losses, they simply don't see Finlay as a Heavyweight champ.

Flair I can buy. Given the urgent nature, I'd give him one last, quick ride.

But Khali draws still draws a crowd as a bada$$, especially considering the circumstances. It's interesting to see if they'll put him over on a guy like Kane (again) or Batista and if not, how will they have him lose?

In the end, I'd throw HHH on Smackdown until about Survior Series and let him face Cena at Survivor Series in a title unification match. It'll never happen, but hey. [Reply]

I think you mentioned this before and I'm starting to really like the idea of unifying the top two titles. It's becoming apparent that the WWE doesn't have enough top-shelf talent (mostly due to the recent rash of injuries) to support two 'major' championships. However, it would present a problem from a booking/storyline aspect... it was the same problem that created the separate titles in the first place (I think, maybe JJ could correct me if I'm wrong).

When they first started Smackdown, the creative/booking teams found it difficult to drag out feuds with both shows, as there's only so much they can do to build to a PPV. Hence the two 'brands' and separate titles... But on the other hand, maybe unification would be just the thing to add a little spice to the current mix, which I think we all would agree has gotten stale with Super-Cena running rampant and one of the worst in-ring performers in history now holding the World Heavyweight Championship.

Perhaps only having one true main-event division would allow more air-time for second-tier wrestlers to develop, that is guys like Kennedy, Hardy, MVP, etc as well as adding some luster to to the belt. [Reply]

thats what ecw is for.its basically training for young guys(cm punk, elijah burke ect.)until they're ready to come into raw or smackdown.so ecw is basically preparing those superstars by having bigger audiences ad see how well they preform compared to a small crowd for ovw [Reply]

Well, what they wanted to do at first was have Brock Lesnar be a sort of "touring" (yes, I use that word very loosley) champ. Once the handwriting was on the wall with him, it deep sixed that idea and they went with the dual titles.

They probably would've went that route eventually with all the egos, but they had big plans for Lesnar then. Imagine how different things would be if Lesnar didn't flake out... [Reply]

Or Jericho, Christian, Big Show, Angle, Rock, Austin never gets hurt, Eddie doesn't die... they'd have so much talent you'd be witnessing the greatest talent era ever in the WWE. [Reply]

Interesting... I didn't watch much when Lesnar was at the top, but from what I've seen of him he was a freak. I wonder if he regrets his decision now? Of course, if he wanted to come back, I bet he would have a job in a second... [Reply]

I definately agree with you there. Those were the good ole days when all of that talent was around, now its just hard for me to watch with Cena on there. [Reply]

Cena deserves to be in those names... he doesn't have anyone else to really stand on that level with him though, aside from Edge who is on the other show.

HBK is too old but I still love him and think he could be up there, HHH will be coming back but people will be *****ing and moaning about him when he gets back, Flair is too old to be main eventing realistically in the WWE, Batista is just meh. [Reply]
