Top Spin 4 Questions (Virtua Tennis player coming over to Top Spin)

I recently got into tennis in the last few years and I started out by grabbing Virtua Tennis 3 for $4. Virtua Tennis was a great starting point, easy to play and fun, but I've outgrown it's arcade gameplay and am looking for something more sim and I'm going to go with Top Spin 4 over Grand Slam 2.

1. Create a player. How is the create a player option, is it deep, is it any good, can you edit your outfits once you've started your career. Are there anythings to unlock, also are there any licensed apparel or equipment.

2. Career stats. Does the game keep your win-loss record? Does it keep track of the tournaments that you win. In Virtua Tennis 3 all you get is an email from your coach that tells you how many tournaments you entered and how many you won.

3. Career obligations. In Virtua Tennis 3 you can go the entire year and not play in one tournament. In Top Spin 4 what am I expected to do? Also how do I level up my attribute ratings.

4. Match Length and initial difficulty I'm ranked number 2 in my VT career and most of my matches (even on the highest difficulty) are squash matches which might top out at 10 minutes at the most, my longest match was my recent loss at the "King of the Court" event and it lasted alittle over 20 minutes. While the game has gotten progressively harder, the game is still for the most part easy. Does Top Spin's difficulty go up as your player rises thru the ranks.

5. Fictional Players. Tennis games like Boxing games have limited rosters. In Virtua Tennis its pretty jarring to squash Gael Monfils in a low-level tournament and then get destroyed by him a major tournament twice in the same month. So does Top Spin use fictional characters similar to the way that Fight Night does?

1. It's good, not so deep though.

2. Yes, career tracking with full stats is there.

3. You choose in what tournaments you want to participate every month.Leveling is done progressively and attribute boosting is connected with coaches selection.

4. You choose the initial difficulty but you start at the lowest level.Cpu players have their own level too. It's nearly impossible to win at level 5 a level 17 cpu player.I've done it 2 times but I was exhausted at the end.If you go with the real set and games option then a match may last over 2 hours.Still coming from VT will raise the difficulty to the top for you.I highly recommend the Top Spin Academy before doing anything else.

5. Didn't really understand your question.Grand Slams are way more difficult. Each player has a specific level.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

The the other part of number 5 is, are there fictional tennis players in the game. Tennis games (like boxing games) have limited rosters. In Virtua Tennis the roster is small and you end up playing the same people over and over. You may squash the number 1 ranked male player in 2 minutes in a low-level tournament and then get dominated by him in a Grand Slam.

Also this is the last question and probably the most important one.. I've heard people talk about Top Spin's match length, when you enter a tournament, do you have to play the entire tournament in one sitting or can you play one match (if you advance) save and then come back and play the following match?

There are fictional players, so you only play the best players (Fed, Nadal, Djoker, Murray, etc) once you're ranked high enough to play in the Masters events and Slams while you play the lower fictional players as you're making your way up in the rankings. Fictional players also play different styles (S&V, offensive/defensive baseliner).

And yes you can play one match from a tourney at a time and save and come back to complete said tourney.

Took a while but I finally got the game ($17 new on Amazon)..Game is great, hard as hell, but approachable. The match lengths are long.. I've averaged about 45 to 55 minute matches (I'm still playing 3 set matches) with the high being 1 hour and 39 minutes and the low being 20 minutes.

Hello!
Does anybody know if it's possible to create players to use in exibition matches against one another in offline mode? Like creating Ferrer, Tsonga, etc... and use them in exibition matches, along with the available players? Thank You
