Top Spin 4 Coaches

I'm doing pretty well in the game generally but must be missing something when it comes to coaching. I've completed objectives with 4 different Gold coaches and whilst each bring their own advantages my attributes never seem to get beyond the mid 70s with the odd exception. When you change coach you gain some and lose some but never seem to be able to develop those high skill points that the top players have. I also have 62000 XPs that are apparently useless. Any pointers would be gratefully received, thanks.
