Ummm... Modern Warfare 3 has sold over 25 million copies.

You can combine all the sales of sports games, and it doesn't top MW3.

FPS isn't dying before sports, and that thought is just laughable hyperbole.

Just for fun, because I like facts.

Battlefield 3 (and this isn't including Steam downloads) has sold 13.39 million copies. 1.98 million of those were PC.

Madden (5.06 million) and NCAA Football (1.68 million) sales combined is barely over half of what Battlefield sold.

Sports games are a niche market, all things considered. Hell, one of my favorite games (MLB The Show) has always hovered around 500,000 copies sold.

Ridiculous statement. Way more people are playing MW than sports games. If sports games stop being made, the video game market would be fine.

Sports games and FPS need eachother. It's a good balance.

I know this is a sports gaming site, and our love for sports gaming most likely brought us all here originally... but let's not act like sports games change the world, or are a huge driving force for profit in today's game world.

Sales wise they just can't compare to other genres of games. FPS doesn't need anything. It'd be a sad sad day if sports games were stopped, but its not like other sales would go down. That's just the cold reality of things.

That is the same for me Play an hour of COD, play MLB 2K12, play NBA 2K12, COD and so forth. Keeps all games interesting.

Very likely to be an insignificant number.

But now that its 99% that MLB 2k is dead, I may have to swallow my pride...

these exclusivity deals with the sporting league and a particular console is what is killing the sporting genre.
The Show can't release for X-Box 360 even if they wanted to. 2K has an exclusive 3rd party MLB license.

2K is getting out of the baseball market so I'm assuming that would allow someone else to make a baseball game but Sony will never allow the Show to be on Xbox

Do you really care where I sent this from?

I agree if 2K in fact is serious about pulling out there is no need to block another company from the license.
