im surprised nobody has thrown the monopolizing takeover at EA. If my history serves me correctly President Theodore Roosevelt made it ILLEGAL for companies to monopolize anything.

Helps EA a lot. You perhaps get that UFC licence and you get not one but 2 good open world games in Saints Row and Red faction. Really looks good in their profile.

Especially with the crap with EA has thrown out as "games" recently. Between the sorry excuses of NASCAR games and then just skipping it was a "NASCAR kart" game this year, and the sorry excuses of Madden recently, what we don't need is for EA to become bigger.

I was waiting for someone to point this out. Dana White isnt going to let EA make a UFC game. EA pissed White off with this upcoming EA MMA game. White also informed his fighters that they wouldnt be permitted to be in this game. Which is one of the reasons this game will suck. EAs MMA will not match Undisputed in any form or fashion. Plus it will prob be a glitchfest that needs months of patches or years of tweaking to become playable, like most EA titles.

EA letting go of the NASCAR license was the best thing they have ever done. Like most EA sports games, the last good NASCAR game that EA made was on a LAST GEN console, the one with Harvick on the cover. Im not a big time NASCAR fan since Dale is gone, but I still liked to play a career mode. Paint Booth was the only thing that EA had with next gen games that was worth the money. And keep in mind with paint booth, you had to be pretty skilled with Paint Shop Pro to really use this feature.

All the talk of EA buying this and that really doesnt matter to me anymore. Im just waiting for someone in the court case against EA to point out the anti trust violations that are being committed by the NFL and NCAA for granting EA an exclusive license. Maybe in the end EA will somehow make a better sports game than 2k. But as long as 2k isnt making football games, EAs football games will be a work in progress. A game released one day and patched to work a month later. NBA 2k series is still crushing Live in my book. So I, alike many others would welcome another 2k football title. Even if EAs is better, the consumers would benifit from the competition.

Its not that EA doesnt have to people to make good games. I applaud the Madden team. They went in the right direction and made Madden about the NFL and trying to represent the NFL. Its not a flawless game, but if they can build on Madden 10 and focus more on offline gaming, Madden could be a monster in a few years. And I dont play hockey games, but word is that NHL 09 was a pretty good game.

On the flip side though, the dev teams that make both NCAA Football and NCAA Basketball are completely lost. These games both suffer from inconsisntent arcade-like gameplay. They also contain way too many funky gimmicks that are useless. Instead of focusing on the atmosphere of the college games. Its not "What you see on Saturday", instead its "SEASON SHOWDOWN", a feature that wont work come February and pretty much a contest that everyone who has played NCAA 10 knows the outcome of. Florida and Ohio State have been leading the boards since day 1 and it will be those two teams playing for the Season Showdown title.

And has anyone ever noticed that both NCAA 10 and NCAA Bball both have extremely choppy gameplay and menus. I will applaud the NCAA team for eventually patching NCAA 10. I still dont think the game plays well and its still bad on EAs part to have released a final patch for NCAA 10 in October, when the game released in July. Thats unnacceptable. Both of these games are on the wrong track. Hell, NCAA Basketball 2k8 was the best college basketball game ever made. I would still play it today and it only costs what 40$ or 20$ brand new when it came it. Thats value. Thats why I dont waste my time with the NBA Live series. As long as 2k is still making NBA games, im good.

Its not a monopoly. For one EA isn't even the biggest gaming publisher out. That award goes to Activision/Blizzard. EA's in second place. Could be a large factor as to why they're going after THQ's lineup.

As to the guys talking about NASCAR. you know Sony has exclusive rights for that right? The only NASCAR game will be a part of Gran Tursimo and its ever up in the air release date.

Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Army of Two, etc aren't crap. Don't let the Madden detractors dilute what EA releases.

I think the reason they are trying to do this, is because they've dumped money into their MMA game, and have realized they wont be able to come near UFC Unleashed...ever. So they'll do what they did when 2k had a far better football game, try to take it out of the market...fck EA

Re: Rumors About EA/THQ Takeover May Be Right On

Ea is trying to ruin gameing world. EA has enough trouble already keeping their game sales from going down even farther. Why add to the problems. Buying another company is just going ruin that company aswell. Madden has not done all that well ever since it has come to the next Gen consoles. This year is no different. Madden 10 still looked kind of crappy from all of the gltiches and bugs. I think EA needs to stay away from THQ and Yukes and fixes the problems they currently have with their own games.

Panther I understand your frustration but EA stockholders only care about game Sales and profit. With all the Licences that THQ have it would great in the EA portfolio.
