The big guys would feel it too though. A worst case scenario would take no prisoners, and the thing is a worst case scenario isn't that far off.

The current state of the industry has made it tough on publishers, which in turn has hurt the quality of product. A drop in the quality of product, along with general economic conditions, brings down the very thing which has made the industry so strong in the first place...

And that is: consumer demand and consumer interest.

If consumer demand and consumer interest start to falter, then the whole thing REALLY starts to tumble... And that's when landscapes start to change.

I'm guessing a total collapse is pretty unlikely, because I think consumer demand still has enough power behind it to keep things going for a while.

That being said, console makers need to be more careful next time around. They need to be one step ahead of this potential disaster and make their platforms easier to develop for so as to lessen the squeeze on publishers, and at the same time make them consumer friendly as well... Meaning that they are affordable, don't break after six months, and don't rely on a gimmick controller.

I agree that Microsoft or Activision would make nice sports games to chanllege EA.

NO EA TAKEOVER
Why post if your uninformed?

The only 2K titles to ever outsell EA titles have been been recent NBA 2Ks on next gen, and not by much. There was also NFL 2K5 on XBOX that outsold Madden 2005 on XBOX but the PS2 sales of Madden alone were more than double the total sales of NFL 2K5 for XBOX and PS2 combined. You're just spouting nonsense.

In case you didn' know, 2K's NBA series is the only one to ever turn a profit in the 2K Sports line.

Wow...EA's stock is now down to $32 and some change. No wonder they backed off from buying TT...their own stock price has gone in the dumper lately.

besides the fact that TT is down to $13 or even Activision/Blizzard is at $11, I guess you haven't noticed that stocks are down all over the place right now..

Yeah, I've noticed...I just think it's interesting that EA's now trading at about the same level TT was a little while ago ($27 and some change, as of today).
