Not Resting on our Laurels: Peter Moore

Peter Moore has updated his blog with another post, this one entitled Not Resting on our Laurels.

Quote:
"I read the forums, I read your posts on my blog, and we do extensive research and testing to deliver the best sports games on the market each year. We care what you say, we respond as much as we possibly can, and so I’m not surprised that early NASCAR reviews are very positive and that our Madden and NCAA FB community event recently had folks applauding the efforts coming out of Tiburon (more on that to come, BP). I’m not surprised that NBA LIVE, which jumped 15 points in review scores a year ago, has the most ground-breaking feature from our lineup this year and we’ll unveil it next month at E3. And I’ll say with supreme confidence that the future couldn’t be brighter for two of our most critically acclaimed products from a year ago – FIFA and NHL.

We’re never satisfied. There’s always more we can do. It’s what we love about our business. I hate to sound like a cheerleader, but the facts are the facts. And I don’t expect them to change any time soon. We’re hitting this season in terms of quality and innovation stronger than we ever have at EA SPORTS. If I’m wrong, you’ll see me sporting a new tattoo - maybe a competitor’s logo?"

Re: Not Resting on our Laurels: Peter Moore

well considering he is basing his argument that they are NO 1. by throwing the madden name out there gets him nowhere in my book. I dont think there are very many people running around talking about how great madden 06,07, or 08 is. I mean seriously, in the past they have had good games, they prob have good games which i have never played but from what I can see they have rested on their laurels, people have recently started calling them out on it, and now he feels the need to write a blog about how they arent. Is there anyone who believes this guy?

My comment on the page:
1st i want to say thanks for the feed back and I am glad to see you back. Now for the games you mentioned, Madden has been a top seller b/c of one thing, NFL exclusive license, thats it. Come on, it took three years to get some commentary in the game. Great job with the NHL series, and the Live series has taken steps forward. Why? Because of competition. Sports genre games with competition will have to become better and offer ground breaking features to stay alive and gain the consumers favor to be profitable, therefore those games have become better and will continue to be great games. I have to admit I am excited about this years football offerings and I might just buy my first EA sports game from the shelves in two years. Up until recently I bought every EA sports game that hit the stores. Two years ago is when I put an boycott on EA and if the games that come out this year are worth my money I might just reconsider. I have been a loyal customer for many years and I want to continue but if every year all I get is garbage that EA wraps in a nice shiny box then I will continue to spend my money somewhere else.

I don't know why, but I really just don't like this guy. He seems to spew so much BS, he did it at MS all the time and continues to do so at EA. Maybe he really can turn EA around for the better, and I hope he can. Just something about him though.

What Laurels. It seems to me EA only gets Madden right once in a systems life cycle.

Or, could be they prefer the style Live brings. People OFTEN have differing likes and dislikes. To call people stubborn fanboys because they like Live is just wrong.

Yeah, becuase thats it. lol

Anyways, he's just saying what people want to hear. He's a good PR guy. In my time in gaming i have seen tons and tons of them, but when it comes down to it, they release crap. I am not saying Madden will be crap, but if i was a betting man, i am not stupid. lol

Re: Not Resting on our Laurels: Peter Moore

I'm willing to give EA's new attitude a go. They sold games well in the past, and they'll continue to do so. They have the licenses to a number of products, and I'd rather have them even show a little interest in our concerns than none at all.

They sent developers on here for the sole reason of making it look like they do care and listen to more hardcore gamers. Doing so does little to help them sell games to the masses. If EA is just going through the motions, or just another marketing technique to get people talking, then that's a road you can only go down a number of times.
