4/10/10 - IT'S HEEEEEEERE!!!!
First off, I want to say a big thank you to the contributing members of the OS community for providing both files and updated lists which made this pack possible. Also, a special thank you for TNKNGM for providing the generic music files and for helping me throughout the process. I really hope everybody enjoys these!
n8rockerasu's Real Player Walk Ups Pack 2010 *Updated 4/14/10 - Took care of some organization issues concerning Generic Music, Free Agents, and Retired players
*Updated 4/13/10 - Realized I somehow left out Downs_Eveland_Frasor file from the Blue Jays
MegaUpload 2 part RAR
For anybody having problems downloading from the above links, I also uploaded it to MegaUpload as a 2 part RAR. To anybody unfamiliar with multi-part RARs, you have to download both parts, and then open up part one, which will automatically work with part two to decompress all the files.
Closers+Crowd Pack 2010
I know some teams are going through problems with their closers, some are hurt, and some might be about to lose their job, but I just picked the person who is GENERALLY considered to be the closer for each team, and extended some of the clips and added crowd roar. I was just going to group all these together, but then I thought that would be dumb because it wouldn't really jive with the main Player Walk Ups pack.
So, instead, I took the exact files that the closers appear in, and just altered their individual clip to include crowd noise. This way, people who want to use these can just replace the files from the main pack, and not lose a valuable playlist slot in the game. I hope that makes sense. If not, you'll see what I mean when you download the pack. Anyway, here are links at both MegaUpload and MediaFire!
Walk Ups+PA Pack 2010 *Updated 4/16: Added Red Sox and Mets
All right, since I have no idea how long the Walk Ups+PA pack is going to take, or how thorough it's going to be, I just decided to post it as I go, and I'll update when I add new teams. For now, I just did the Yankees.
Here's how it's going to work, and how I recommend handling these files. Like the Closers+Crowd pack, I just took the files from the main Player Walk Ups, and added PA to the clips that they were available for. For example, there is a 03_NYY_01_Cano_Cano2_Cano3.mp3 file. If you want to use these added PA clips, just take the files and replace the files from the main pack with the same name.
Home Run Music Pack 2010 *Updated 4/14/10 - "New Songs"
Dodgers: assigned "Rock and Roll Pt 2" to them
Astros: assigned "Won't Get Fooled Again" to them *Updated 4/13/10 - New Songs
Marlins: "Rock and Roll Pt 2 (The Hey Song)" added
Reds: "Gone" added
Cardinals: "Sandstorm" added *Updated 4/12/10 - Fixed "album title"/"genre" naming so files are organized better on PS3
*Updated 4/11/10- New Songs
Twins: Prince - "Let's Go Crazy" added Mets: Akon - "Sexy Chick" added
About Home Run Music, I discussed it with TNKNGM, and we both agree that most teams probably haven't changed what they play for a home run, so last year's pack is probably sufficient. Unless anybody has any major updates, I'll just go ahead and post that now.
Team Sounds Pack 2010
All right, folks. Here's the first installment of the Team Sounds pack. It's got four teams: Yankees, Red Sox, Braves, and Mets. It covers everything from Win/Loss music, strikeout music, to inning music. Obviously, there are some clips that will work for any team, so definitely check out each folder to see if there's anything you'd want to use for your team. For "We Are The Champions", appropriately, look in the NYY folder. :-)

Our disappointment with these was that they only play for 5-7 seconds after the game, but I still feel the effort TNKNGM made is completely valid, and these files deserve to be shared.
----------------------------------------
That's right, folks! The sound pack IS DONE! (well, the main part anyway) This initial release only batter and pitcher walk ups in their base form. I figured this was the most important thing to get to the masses, and I can really add the "batter+PA" and "closer+crowd" files later, and people can just replace the other files if they want. But this pack itself has 367(x3) player files and 21(x3) generic music files. The songs are grouped by team, so you can do just your favorite teams if you want, or do the entire league. I also included some files for Free Agents and Retired Players just to use however anyone wants to. The choice is completely up to you!
This year, I placed the importance on keeping teams grouped together. Last year, I took leftover players and lumped them together in an "Extras" folder. But I thought that was too confusing, and even caused me to forget about some players. And since this year's game is SUPPOSED to have slots for 499 songs, there SHOULD be plenty of room to keep the teams together. When grouping the files, I started with batters, then moved on to relief pitchers, and then starting pitchers.
First, we should talk about how the files are organized and how the naming works. When you look at the files, you'll see a number at the beginning, followed by the team name, followed by another number, and finally, the 3 player names that the clips are for. I did it this way to keep everything in order both on your PS3 and in the game.
So, when you see 01_BAL_09_Guthrie_Millwood_Millwood2.mp3, the "01" shows that it's for the first team, "BAL" tells you who that team is, "09" tells you the number of the file for that team, and the names are pretty much self-explanatory. When a player has more than one song, they'll be numbered as you see in the example. There are some players who I obtained 6 songs for. Feel free to use whichever ones you like. The main objective here was just having options.
Also, what you'll see is some overlap where the first two clips of a file may be a batter, and the third clip is a relief pitcher. When this happens, you'll see "(rp)" before the player's name to let you know that we're transitioning to relief pitchers now. (ex: 03_NYY_15_Thames_Winn_(rp)Aceves.mp3).
The same thing can happen going from relief pitchers to starting pitchers. You'll see "(sp)" before the first pitcher in that group (ex: 02_BOS_10_Ramirez2_Schoneweis_(sp)Beckett.mp3). You will also see some pitchers who have "(ab)" or "(wu)" after their name. I did this for pitchers whose music was specifically designated as being either "at bat" or "warm up" music. Place those files accordingly.
As I mentioned before, I didn't break up "extra players" from their teams this year. So, occasionally, you'll have a file that has 2 or sometimes only 1 player in it. But these will ALWAYS be starting pitchers. Depending on your preference, you can leave that file out, or use it. Once again, it's completely up to you! But my goal was just to keep the team together.
3/14/10 - Learning How To Use This Pack Here's a sample for anyone unsure how the "grouped in 3's" thing works. I'm linking a file at the bottom so everyone can play around with it so they know what to do when I release the full pack. The Show makes it EXTREMELY easy this year to see where you should set your markers. Take this clip, load it onto your PS3 (you can use a USB flash drive, you can use an SD card if you have the multimedia slot on your PS3, or you can stream it from your PC if you know how).
Once you have the file on your PS3 in some form, go into the game. Select the "My MLB Music" option, find the file by pressing R1, and add it to your custom playlist. See picture:
Spoiler
Once you've done this, go into "Sounds of the Show" and select "Music Editor". Press R1 until you see the file you just added. Highlight it, and give it a few seconds to load. As it loads, you should see a visual representation of the sound wave at the top of the screen. See picture:
Spoiler
Press right on the left analog stick to highlight the "Marks" box. Leave Mark 1 at zero, and move down to Mark 2. Use R2 (and L2 if you go too far...which you will) to move the mark to the beginning of the second sound wave.
Move down again, and do the same for Mark 3 with the third sound wave. Now, when you go in to edit these players, all you have to do is select the file, and then select Mark 1 for Robert Andino, Mark 2 for Garrett Atkins, and Mark 3 for Michael Aubrey. That's it.
Here's the file for you to play around with. Learn this now so you're ready when I release the full pack.
Some people have shown an interest in having clips of the real PA Announcer for teams added to the walk up clips. After being able to do this for both the Yankees and the Mets, I wanted to look into how feasible this would be for other teams. Youtube is really the only place to try to find a clip of the starting lineup before games. Obviously, the sound quality of the clip is going to be a major factor in whether it'll work layered over a song without just mucking up the whole thing. So far, I've found decent clips for the Orioles and Red Sox.
If this is something people would be interested in having, then I could really use some help finding good clips that I can rip the audio from. Basically, what I've been doing is searching on Youtube for "____ lineup". Anybody who wants to help me search for these and post links would greatly speed up the process. Thanks!
So far, I have found PA clips for the following teams: Orioles (though not the best quality), Red Sox, Yankees, Blue Jays, Mets, and Phillies.
3/10/10 - Status Update
Spoiler
I've updated all the songs from every list I can find. So, short of getting even newer lists or ones for teams I haven't found, I'm basically ready to start grouping these into 3's and hammering out the "final product". I might wait a day or two to start on that though, just to make sure nothing else pops up.
I'm trying my hardest not to have to go back and redo these 3.5 times like I did last year, haha. I'm really pleased with what I've got so far though. I've even been able to add PA introductions for a few teams, which I didn't expect to be able to do. I updated my podbean with a David Wright walk up with PA announcer. Those curious about previews can check it out.
I've completely finished reorganizing the players onto their new teams, and dividing them into Batter, RP, and SP. And I'm about 40% of the way through updating players songs to what they've used more recently (at least with the lists that I could find...obviously more could always pop up). After that, it's on to grouping them in 3's.
I was thinking this year, since we're not as crunched for slots, I'd keep the teams together (remember last year, I grouped left over players into an "Extras" folder). I'll probably just start with Batters, then move on to RP, and then to SP. So, you might have one file that has 1 Batter and 2 RP's on it...or you could have a file with 2 RP and 1 SP.
Basically, I'd just allow them to roll over, since there won't be an issue with deciding which players are worthy of getting a slot. I know some people won't care about music for SP's (especially those from the AL), but I still want to keep the option there. With 499 slots to play with, there will be plenty of room for people to customize as they like. I just want to keep my pack flexible.
For anybody anxious, here's a teaser of what's to come:
Ok, good news. The "All_Players" folder I started out with yesterday was apparently Skyboxer's old one or something because I knew it didn't seem like it had enough players. I found a much more comprehensive folder on my computer that has music for a lot more players. So, we may not be as short on music for players as I initially thought.
Additionally, I've gone through 5 pages in this forum seeking out "X team music". I pulled both lists and files from a lot of these threads which I'll use for updating songs that were included in last years pack.
Of course, even these may not be extremely up to date, but they'll at least be more current than what we went with last year. And like I said, players are always changing their songs, so we're never going to have a perfect set. But there WILL be a very noticeable difference between last year's pack and this year's.
My task for today will be organizing the players from this newer folder I found and updating players with their newer songs.
3/6/10 - Project Goal
Spoiler
Hey guys. I don't know how many of you remember my pack from last year, but I was the guy who took Skyboxer's and others initial work and organized it into the "Real Player Walkups Amplified and Grouped in 3's" pack. After putting an incredible amount of hours into the pack last year, I ended up being extremely disappointed in the game itself.
I thought MLB 09 was a huge step backward for the series with all the bugs and glitches it had, and the huge rubber band AI. Anyway, I'm thrilled to say that MLB 10 is a completely different game, and I'm really excited about playing this year.
If there's a desire for it, I'd be willing to update my song pack with whatever resources are available. Like it's already been mentioned, players change songs pretty frequently, but at the very least, I can move players who switched teams around, and if people contribute song changes that they're aware of, we still should be able to make it pretty useful. Anyway, that's just my thought on it. I'll probably be doing some testing today to see what all needs to be done. Hopefully it's something people are interested in though.
Yes PLEEEEESSSSEEEE do them again for 2010, you made the game 100% better with your walkups. They were great when listening to the game with a home theatre.

My first question for anybody who's been looking at this already is the reason we ended up grouping things into 3's last year. We had to do this because The Show would only let us add something like 200 songs to the playlist...which wasn't enough to cover every player. I did a brief test with the songs on my hard drive, and I ran out of songs before I ran out of playlist space. I got to 350. Does anybody know if that limitation has been removed or greatly increased this year? If it has, grouping in 3's will be unnecessary, eliminating the need for a marker guide, and making applying the sounds much quicker. Anybody know?

I think I read somewhere here that the limit is set to 499.

Yeah, less tracks total, but it really wouldn't take up any more space. I guess it just depends on how people feel about having to set their own markers. It would just be a lot less confusing if it was one file per player though, and of course I'd keep everything super organized with folders for each team. Then people could use them as needed.
Grouping into 3's last year was a pain because I separated hitters from pitchers and then some teams had left over players, and I just lumped all the left over players together at the end. It was less than ideal. But who knows if the playlist has room for the 750+ files I would need to keep them separate anyway. I'm making some dummy files now to try to test that. I'll post my findings later.

Ah, really? Well that would suck if true. Guess I'll find out here in a bit. I guess with 499 we could group them into 2's. Not really sure if there would really be any point though.
EDIT- Yup, I can confirm 499 is the limit this year. Oh well, groups of 3 it is then! No point in doing groups of two just to have more files and still have to set markers.
Marbury, if you want to post your BAL and BOS, I take a look at it and see how it'll fit with what I've got already. Thanks!
