Re: 2011-2012 UEFA Champions League Thread

Was hoping someone would start a thread.

Champions route

Wisła Kraków (POL) v APOEL FC (CYP)
Macabi Haifa FC (ISR) v KRC Genk (BEL)
NK Dinamo Zagreb (CRO) v Malmö FF (SWE)
FC København (DEN) v FC Viktoria Plzeň (CZE)
FC BATE Borisov (BLR) v SK Sturm Graz (AUT)

League route

Odense BK (DEN) v Villarreal CF (ESP)
FC Twente (NED) v SL Benfica (POR)
Arsenal FC (ENG) v Udinese Calcio (ITA)
FC Bayern München (GER) v FC Zürich (SUI)
Olympique Lyonnais (FRA) v FC Rubin Kazan (RUS)

I think Arsenal is in serious danger of losing their tie.

I don't know if I'd say serious danger, but we're definitely not guaranteed a place in the group stage.

Well, it's a relative term. I don't mean they aren't favored, you probably said it best.

I will say I will not be surprised if we don't make it in. It wasn't the worst draw, but it's damn tough. At least they don't have Sanchez. Bring it!

Other than Arsenal, Twente v Benfica is the most interesting to me. I think that could be a close tie.

Some of you guys will not agree but I think it wouldn't be the end of the world if you didn't make it to the group stages. No European games to worry about. Liverpool don't have any to play and I think it will be beneficial to us to have a real go at getting back in the top 4. Less games, less distraction.

I'd be more than alright with it.

This team is not ready to mount a domestic title challenge so a European one would be even more laughable. Many would see it as a huge blow, but I would see it as a chance to get a team ready to play in that competition for next year.

I'm interested in that one, and Lyon v Kazan.

Hopefully Bayern play better against Zurich than they did against M'Gladabach. Would be very disappointing for them not to make it to the group stages.
