Re: The 2011-12 EPL Discussion Thread

despite the missed scoring chance, i think Carroll was Liverpool's best player today. Gerrard started strong but didn't do much in the 2nd half. Bellamy, Kuyt, Downing, Spearing, Adam; next to nothing from any of them. the crosses they collectively (not spearing) put into the box are horrible. Spearing gave away a handful of balls under no pressure at all.

i think Carroll won almost every header he went up for, kept possession extremely well and set up his teammates very well. like to see him finish the one chance he had, but his game isn't to be skillful with his feet to control that ball, and he had a defender lunging at him so for me, he gets a pass on that.

good game overall, woulda liked to see Liverpool pull it out, but its not necessarily a bad result for them

The MU equalizer was some of the worst defense I've seen this year. Great purchase in Cahill.

Got lucky in not getting sent off in the first couple minutes. However, that Bolton defense showed up on that goal.

Disappointing game and I'm honestly done with AVB. I liked him in the beginning of the season but the more I see this team play, his changes and the way he addresses the media the more I want to see him out.

After Sturridge went off they attacked from that left wing the rest of the game. It's like it was illegal to attack from anywhere else.

And Howard Webb.

That was Luiz on the Chicharito header. Cahill just mistimed his jump and missed the header. Considering that his first match he was paired with a new partner and being thrown against the likes of United I thought he did very well. Positionally he was very solid and allowed Luiz to roam and be the ball-winner.

If you would have asked me before the match would I take a point I'd say hell yeah but after seeing my boys squander a 3 goal lead the feeling is very different. I like AVB overall but his substitutions and in-game management have been poor. Mata was absolute nightmare in the middle of the pitch but once he takes off Sturridge he forces him wide where he can't link up and distribute the ball. Malouda should have been sacrificed, he was horrible all match long and did his best to slow up the tempo. I know he only played because Ramires was hurt but he should have been withdrawn allowing Sturridge to stay on. Too many times he takes off Sturridge, we give up the equalizer and ZERO attack going forward because:

Torres is done.

He doesn't have the legs to run at people and he knows, hell the defenders know it. That trademark burst is gone as is his confidence and he's becoming a liability. His cross to Mata was excellent but as the central striker he shouldn't ever drift out wide, especially when our fullbacks are told to push so far forward.

Halfway through the season and we still can't figure out what kind of club we're going to be.

As much as I'm looking forward to Liverpool & Utd I'm just as much looking forward to the 3 "6 Pointers". The bottom 6 teams play each other this weekend. Blackburn vs QPR, Bolton vs Wigan & Wolves vs WBA.

Should be very interesting down at the bottom this weekend.

I have no idea why the commentators made no mention of Suarez's push on Ferdinand that almost resulted in him landing on his head. Clear as day.

Thrilling first half so far even without any goals. United have been very positive while Liverpool are looking to go at it from the counter though they look like they would settle for a draw.

I gotta say, watching Liverpool is like watching a crummy Serie A team.

Well deserved win! And who else to win it than the Scouse in a United shirt?! Gotta mention Valencia as well - he's been our best player for the past 3 months and he certainly damaged Liverpool on the right today.

Giving up that Suarez goal was really disappointing though. United have been suspect at set pieces a lot of times this season.

Top of the table; hope City stumble tomorrow.

Edit:

I was at first. Then I just .

Both Evra and Suarez showed the world their maturity levels today are a bit behind IMO.

Liverpool obviously needs to find a way to create more chances if they ever want to win against a squad thats in the top third of the table.
