UEFA Champions League Thread 09/10

The draw for what used to be known as the third round of qualifying has been made

Quote:
BEST-PLACED PATH

Lyon v Anderlecht
Celtic v Arsenal
Politehnica Timisoara v VfB Stuttgart
Sporting Lisbon v Fiorentina
Panathinaikos v Atletico Madrid

CHAMPIONS PATH

FC Sheriff v Olympiakos
FC Salzburg v Maccabi Haifa
FK Ventspils v FC Zürich
FC Copenhagen v APOEL
Levski Sofia v Debreceni
I believe one or two of these matchups will be shown on the fox family of networks

If they can hold on to Aguero, Atletico should have a good chance of coming out of that set...

Whether or not Arsenal is unfortunate to draw Lyon may be determined by how the french side bounce back after losing Benzema.

Celtic is a good side, they shouldn't be overlooked.

Atletico has the best shot even with Aguero. They still have Maxi, Asenjo, and Forlan. Easily the most talented team there. Sorry Arsenal fans, when your players (outside of Cesc, RVP, and Clichy) show me they can win big games, then I'll latch on (losing Toure is going to hurt worse than they know I'm afraid).

Nothing, but neither have Arsenal, and Arsenal lost a lot. I think this is the year that Atletico puts it all together. They could even win La Liga if Mardid and Barca slump.

Celtic are terrible in Europe.

I'm pretty confident we'll advance.

Arsenal's debt is dependent upon it!

Outside of Aguero, Forlan, and Maxi that team doesn't scare me very much. Asenjo, I agree is going to be a great keeper. But will see how he does with the pressure of playing for a big club.

No they aren't. They made the last 16 of the Champions League in 2007 and 2008. They are a quality side especially at Parkhead. As a Celtic supporter I still give the edge to Arsenal but many a team has come to Glasgow and gone home in tears.

Celtic is pretty dang good at home. Now on the road is a different story.
