The audio was crap but I didn't care one bit. Getting to see Celtic in HD, even in a loss, was great. [Reply]

How did ESPN lose the Champions League? Is it just as simple that they got outbid. it seems weird that they would let that happen [Reply]

ESPN lost them because they put in the same bid they did 4 or 5 years ago and Murdoch finally put some money in the coffers for FSC and they outbid ESPN pretty handily. From what I remember, ESPN got outbid by something like 25 or 30 million and didn't want to match in a sagging economy, so they just picked up EPL and partial La Liga. [Reply]

I'm so glad we got Sporting in this "Play-Off" round, and avoided the likes of Arsenal and Lyon. But despite two well taken goals we got pretty damn lucky to come away with a draw in Lisbon...Gamberini could easily have been sent off had the ref fallen for Liedson's play-acting (the yellow card was warranted, of course), and then Vukcevic gets a second yellow for taking his shirt off after celebrating his goal LOL so we got to play against 10 men for about half an hour (still didn't stop Sporting scoring again :-)). Easily the dumbest rule in soccer but the ref got it right at least.

Looking forward to the second leg in Florence.

When i first heard about Platini's plan for getting more European minnows in the group stages, i was all for it, but after seeing the matchups and realising one of Arsenal/Celtic, Atletico/Pana and Sporting/Fiorentina will not qualify while some random Latvian or Romanian no-name club will, i've quickly flip-flopped. I just hope we make it in... [Reply]

ESPN retained the rights in some places overseas.

Also they failed to pickup any rights to the la liga/epl(hell they even failed in the UK, and only after Setanta failed they got any rights.) They were approached to pick up the slack. [Reply]

Eduardo makes it so it easy for me to hate him, with CR7 now gone, he becomes the biggest diver/baby in the premier league.

Which is a shame cause aside from him I do enjoy watching Arsenal play. [Reply]

Yes, we made it!!!

The 32 teams and their pot designations for the draw today is available HERE.

Hoping to get grouped with AZ...whichever team from Pot A we get won't really make a difference to our chances IMO. Bet we get Man Utd and Real Madrid instead :-) [Reply]

Very excited for the group stage draws tomorrow! I have a feeling there is going to be one big-time "group of death" due to the great teams stuck in pool B (Madrid, Inter, Juventus) plus the appearance of a team like Atletico and Fiorentina in pool C. Then whoever draws Wolfsburg out of pool D is going to sob. Can you imagine:

Barcelona, Inter, Marseille, and Wolfsburg or Chelsea, Real Madrid, Fiorentina, and Wolfsburg [Reply]
