2008/09 Serie A Thread...The games AND THEIR RESULTS

Lets talk about the Calcio Serie A all season long. If you got nothing worthwhile to say about Italian football, then GTFO!

Also, as the thread title suggests, results will be posted in this thread (whether by me or by others) - possibly immediately after the games have finished, so stay away from this thread if you don't wanna be spoiled.

The league already kicked off on Saturday...

Week 1
Udinese 3-1 Palermo
Sampdoria 1-1 Inter
Atalanta - Siena
Cagliari - Lazio
Catania - Genoa
Chievo - Reggina
Torino - Lecce
Milan - Bologna
Roma - Napoli
Fiorentina - Juventus

I'm thrilled to see ESPN Pac Rim are showing all of the bottom 3 fixtures this weekend (especially considering they only showed 2 Serie A games the whole of last season!), so i'll be keen to see the new look Milan in action...in the hopes of a first round upset

Of course the Fiorentina/Juve rivalry in the pick of the first week and i'll be sure to catch the replay of it, since i won't be able to watch it live.

Meanwhile i'm already looking forward to the final day of the season because of one match: Fiorentina v Milan! Can anyone say "Championship decider" ?

Spoiler

I won't be able to catch most Inter games, so if anyone can, post how Adriano does from their own perspective, and what he has to improve on since returning.

This Milan/Bologna game is as good as it gets. It's almost like a game of PES 2008. Up and back, no boring Italian defensive game here. 1-1 in the first and Ronny looks really good.

I agree, very action packed first half. Good to be back to action!

Re: 2008/09 Serie A Thread...The games AND THEIR RESULTS

I know I'm going to be the exception here but I thought Ronny looked poor in the second half I watched other than his hold up and cross in to Sheva. He was very sluggish to me in this half and extremely sulky when dispossessed. Running to the ref after you lose the ball instead of trying to get it back is just about the worst thing a player could do in order to grow on me.

I still felt Sheva was worse - this guy was just not in form at all in the half I watched. A lot of expensive talent out there not living up to the hype I guess? Again goes to show anything can happen in football.

Pato should have been in for Shev

It was clear Inter would struggle early on, missing 4 of their top 5 central defenders and having to play their best midfielder as a makeshift center back.

Didn't expect Roma to draw at home to a side down to 10 men for most of the second half, and Milan lose at home to a newly promoted side though. Hopefully Fiorentina can beat Juve tonight.

Re: 2008/09 Serie A Thread...The games AND THEIR RESULTS

Caught the last 10 minutes or so of Milan/Bologna... shocker for sure. I thought Flamini was going to head that one in at the far post for the late equaliser. Did Ancelotti (sp?) have him playing in the center? He looked to be drifting out to the right...
