Problems with PS3

I've had my PS3 since they were first released way back when, and it is starting to act like it may not last much longer. (seen many many hours of play) But my question is, is there a memory card or something I can get to save my franchise on in case something happens to it. I couldnt imagine having to restart the whole thing over again if my PS3 blows up. I'm sure there was a better website to ask this on, but everyone here is usually more helpful than other places so I figured I'd ask. Thanks

If you have a external hdd. You can backup everything on to that. Then you wont lose any of your games. And if you get a new ps3 you can transfer all the data on to that one.

If your PS3 dies, your HDD will very likely not be damaged. You should just be able to pop your hard drive into your new PS3.

Ps3 hdd partitions are encrypted when formatted. You cant swap hdds with a new ps3. I've tried when my first ps3 died. Backing everything up to a USB stick or external hdd is the only way to go

File sizes are too big for thumb drives. Best bet is to save it to an external hdd. Only bad thing about that is that it has to be a FAT32 external hard drive vice NTFS...unless Sony finally fixed that which I doubt.

Re: Problems with PS3

If your franchise is the only thing you are worried about, just consistently upload your saves to the cloud from within The Show (the thing PS Vita owners use to transfer files).

Whenever your PS3 does blow up, set your new PS3 up with the same PSN and everything, and then just download the file from the cloud first chance you get. No flash drives, no memory, no fuss.

Re: Problems with PS3

Thanks guys. Now if I were to try to back everything up on a stick, how would I go about doing that. It wont let me upload to cloud, Bobhead because I havent downloaded the last patch, and don't want to because of all the problems it has caused.
