Re: 3SD In-Season Free Agency Rules and Form

Just 1 question about
"Teams winning bids have exactly one week to sign the won player.
If the team fails to do so, his winning bid is nullifed and the player in question returns into the free agent pool and may be bid on beginning the following week by all 32 teams.
"

Is there a penalty for teams that do not sign the player they bid on and won? ie.. points are not returned..

In the general case: since the player was not actually signed, no points are spent in this case.

If someone repeatedly fails to complete winning bids, however, the league reserves the right to handle that situation as appropriate. It's against the spirit of the rules to deliberately fail to complete bids in order to block free agent movement.

Re: 3SD In-Season Free Agency Rules and Form

So If you win a player you can sign him to whatever tyoe of deal you want?

For example
it I won Otah I could sign him to a 1 year deal or 5 year deal?

And is there a Limit to amount of free agents you can get in one year since if I belive I read right you can bid 0?

And if the random EA guys are in like girl was at qb in madden 12 are they off limits?

No - In-season free agents are only allowed to sign a 1 year deal (unless I have read this wrong) that is the way Madden 13 is set up.

As far as I know, and I will wait to CM to chime in, there is no limit.

This looks like an awesome system. I can't wait to see the FA list.

My working understanding from talking to a few GameChangers is that free agents will always sign one-year deals when signed in-season, similar to Madden NFL 12. This entire system is based upon that being true.

There is no limit to the number of free agents a team may sign in a season, though with each signing of a free agent a team will continuously damage its tiebreak priority (total signings is one of the highest-level tiebreakers, lower number being better). There's an emphasis placed on making shrewd moves rather than as many moves as possible.

Locked, sealed, glued shut....1 year deals for in-season FA.

Re: 3SD In-Season Free Agency Rules and Form

Quick reminder, free agent bid submission begins now.

All bids will be resolved prior to advance to Preseason Week 1 (EDIT: pre-preseason bidding period ends on Thursday at 4PM; all won bids must be resolved by 4PM on Friday). Given that the CPU will sign free agents upon advance to Preseason Week 1, I need to coordinate the timing of this system with Dave just a tad.

Also, any chance we could get this stickied?

Re: 3SD In-Season Free Agency Rules and Form

Minor programming note:

It appears that AI teams have the ability to sign free agents prior to the user having any opportunity to do so. As such, any won bid for a player who was previously in the free agent pool but the AI then signed will be nullified, and any points bid on that free agent by the team winning the bid for him shall be returned.
