Los Angeles (AP) - The Pre-season #2 rank Trojans ended their fall camp this past Saturday with their annual fall scrimmage.

It was a great event with much anticipated fanfare. It was the biggest showing I've ever seen at an annual scrimmage. Perhaps it's the 1st season in 3 years that we are playing for something. The team showed excitement to get this season started and they do so next Saturday against the Rainbow Warrior of Hawaii. But 1st they get to tune up against each other for the fans.

The game began with the White team consist of mostly of second and third string play taking possession of the ball and redshirt Freshmen QB Cody Kessler drove the White team down the field for a 24 yard field goal by Heidari.

Anthony Brown and Isiah Wiley is part of a very experience secondary.

Matt Barkley got his turn next and surprisingly threw an interception to LB Anthony Sarao (pass tipped by Gerald Bowman). The White team stalled the next drive and Barkley got his revenge. Barkley connected with Robert Woods on a 20 yards TD pass catching between two defenders (Anthony Brown, Gerald Bowman). Woods coming into fall camp was a big question mark because of his ankle, but he has proved that everything is good to go. Barkley then connected with Xaiver Grimble on a 13 yard TD pass.

Barkley connecting with his TE Xaiver Grimble on a 13 yards TD pass.

The defense proved that they will contribute also as the next few possession turned into a defensive showcase. Anthony Brown undercut a Max Wittek throw and had an interception, Junior College transfer Gerald Bowman had two pass breakups and 4 tackles. Freshmen Scott Starr was impressive with a sack and 6 tackles.

Max Wittek also caught on fire after that interception, he connected with his high school teammate Victor Blackwell on a 70 yards TD pass. He also found Freshmen Nelson Agholor 4 times for 52 yards. Blackwell finished the day with 3 catches for 92 yards.

Redshirt freshmen Junior Pomee finished the day off with a TD catch of his own, he finished the day with 4 catches 46 yards and a TD.

Junior Pomee and Nelson Agholor are going to be a big part of the Trojans offense.

One thing is for sure, this is a young and talented team. The future looks bright for the Trojans, but right now is the future and the BCS title is what Matt Barkley and T.J. McDonald came back for.

Re: NCAA Football 13 (USC Football - unfinish business)

Los Angeles (AP) - The USC Trojans are not strangers to sanctions and penalties from the NCAA. USC was giving a rather harsh penalty back in 2009 with 2 year bowl banned and 30 scholarship reduction over 3 years. USC also faced player transfer rules where players transfering from their institution were able to complete at any other FBS school without sitting out the 1 year rule.

Due to that rule players such as Jarvis Jones (UGA) and DJ Shoemate (UConn) left the school. USC struggled with their 1st year because of depth. Losing tight games in the 4th quarters to Washington and Stanford with a total of 3 points.

The Trojans now find themselves in a complete opposite position now. Even though the scholarship reduction are still lingering over their head, The Trojans have bounced back to national spotlight in a positive way. They are rank #2 in all major ranking and now are even better with the arrival of Silas Redd from Penn State.

Redd in his practice showed balance, explosiveness, and toughness. USC needed depth at the RB position with Tre Madden going down in spring practice, they also needed a back that can can the tough yards. Silas not only give them those things but also a back that he cut and break for the house.

"I can not be more exited to have a student athlete like Silas Redd. He fit all the standard of what USC stands for, and he is a really great football player." - Lane Kiffin

Buckle your chin strap cause there is unfinished business for the men of Troy.

Re: NCAA Football 13 (USC Football - unfinish business)

Los Angeles (AP) - Matt Barkley and company welcomed the Hawaii Rainbow Warrior now coached by their former Offensive Coordinator Norm Chow. Kiffin didn't take it easy on his mentor on Saturday during Norm Chows head coaching debut.

Silas Redd on his way to 126 yards and 1 TD on 11 carries in his USC debute

The Trojans kicked things off with Barkley driving USC down the field. With the ball on the three yard line, Barkley was flushed out of the pocket and had looked to run it in to the endzone himself when he found Marquise Lee wide open in the endzone by himself for a 3 yards TD pass.

Hawaii would respond behind the arm of Taylor Graham, but fell short on the Trojans' 26 yard line and had to settle for a FG.

Senior DE Wes Horton, did not record a sack but pressure Hawaii QB all day long

Barkley would throw TDs on his next two possession to Telfer and Woods to put the Trojans up 21 to 3. Hawaii bounced back with 10 straight points highlighted by Taylor Graham's 34 yards TD pass to Ostrowski. With 10 seconds to go before halftime the Trojans led 21 to 17 in a tight game, when things opened wide up. Barkley would connect with George Farmer on a corner route and Farmer would outrun every Hawaii defender to a 79 yards TD reception.

2nd Half would prove no contest as the Trojans would score 35 points to Hawaii's 0. Linebacker Lamar Dawson and Antwan Woods would both be the recipient of good fortune by intercepting Taylor Graham and taking it to the house. It was special for Woods a 300 pounds DT droping back in pass coverage. The interception was caused by a miss tackle that could have led to a sack.

Big DT Woods, had a pick 6 and 1st TD of his career

Both Curtis McNeal and Silas Redd would rush for over 100 yards and score a TD each. Telfer scored his 2nd TD on a 22 yards pass from Barkley.

"It was a good way to start the season, it reminded me of the game back in 05 in our season opener against Arkansas. I hope we get be as successful, but I don't want to praise our guys that much yet. We'll continue to work and get better." - Lane Kiffin
