What am I doing wrong? (Franchise)

Franchise mode, end of the season I make sure all settings are set to user, at re-signing period I re-sign the guys I want and leave the ones I want to cut un-signed. Now what? Because when I hit start on my controller the only logical option is to sim to the next task, but when I do that the CPU takes over and cuts guys, sometimes key players that have 5-7 year contracts. I delt with it the first few seasons and just got the players back via FA bidding, but it has really jacked my cap up.

Seems like it also swtiches it back to CPU in the settings once I sim past.

What am I doing wrong? It also ends up signing draft picks I don't want & fills the roster which is annoying when I set everything to user. Only thing I can think of is I'm advancing wrong, but I don't see another option.

I'm not sure, but if you change head coach after the season, it will change it all to "CPU".

I think that may of been the issue. I'll be sure to change it back after signing.

I forget which Madden it was, but one on next gen had a glitch where if you had a coach and set it all to user, after he left the CPU wouldn't sign FAs or draft picks for his new team. Like it was still set to user, even though he was no longer the user coach.

The falcons signed my old coach and after 3-4 seasons they had one player who was WR, KR, K, P and DB/LB. He was a beast. Lol.
