FIFA Street Review

After a long absence, FIFA Street makes its return to the consoles. Clearly EA saw the success of the FIFA franchise and decided the time was right to press the old reboot button on its more arcade-styled cousin. In fact, one of the game’s major selling points is that the gameplay is built upon the much lauded FIFA 12 engine. So does FIFA Street deliver? On the whole, yes. But some questionable decisions and other niggling flaws prevent Street from being a must own for football fans.

$40 right now on Amazon, at Best Buy, and probably other places if people are persuaded to get it by reading this review.

well said review, I went a little nutty over the Total Ball Control thingy they put in Street because it was amazingly responsive. Its a shame the basic player movement isn't as responsive, though ground tricks seem to come out almost as smoothly as the TBC moves.

Its the lack of an online feature set/clubs thats got me frustrated by this title. So many different game modes are available locally, but not online.

Still, game is fun to play. Especially if you have 3 other local friends or 7 online ones.

A bit of wasted potential on this one. I give it a very very fun 7/10

EDIT
I also had a gripe with how the players are rated and the game is balanced.

Your 'Be a Pro' , by level 30 or 40, will have accrued enough points to out rate Messi, or the better Street players.

The level cap is 100 I think (i Saw a 96), so enough points are their to almost fully rate your guy, making real life footy legends seem like Npower players. This means that no one will really have a specific strength or Weakness, and that kind of kills the character of players BAPs.

So playing against real teams World Tour Tournies isn't so bad on Medium and Hard, but if you draw a Custom Team its very possible your in for a long and frustrating match.

@DustinT > I think you nailed this review.

(Hint for tournies on hard : If you feel like you have enough Skill Points, you can Dashboard out if you lose an elimination game and not have to restart the tourney at the group stage. Yeah, not very honest, but your teammates defensive AI is terrible. I mean just frustratingly bad. And thats not very honest in my opinion)

PS don't player lock in a 5v5 or 6v6 on hard if you expect a fair game.

Re: FIFA Street Review

Just picked it up and already regretting it a bit. Online modes are great, but there is no depth to offline. You just play random one time matches. Unless I can't find it (FIFA menu is terrible), I don't see any options to create a tournament/league/season. Only tournament I can find is world tour which is silly. Why would I want to play against a bunch of random computer generated players? Luckily this was only $40. Hopefully it gets more fun but so far i'm not a fan.
