We're testing different stuff over at NLSC, trying to see if something can fix that. There's a guy saying that from his experience he has gone over 15 games without a CTD, as long as there was a program occupying as much RAM as NBA 2K12 did while the game was running.

Sounds extremely weird and goes against everything I know from my CS studies, but I thought that there was nothing to lose.

So I made a tool that does nothing more than allocate as much memory as you tell it to. I can't say I have verified his theory, as I only tested it for 2 games (playing the game with the tool running in the background) and didn't get any crash.

It might just be that this weird fix works, or it doesn't.

In either case, it won't hurt you to try it out and tell us if it worked for you or if the guy just got lucky for 15 games straight.

You've just been lucky. I've had the game crash on me all too often, and it's extremely frustrating when it happens after 3 12 minute quarters, as you've lost an hour of a good game most often. And the crash reports are coming from people with all kinds of set-ups. No matter the CPU, GPU, drivers, OS, roster, whether you've installed mods or not, there's this damn random crash once in a while that will make you want to put your controller through your monitor.

yeah the removed the old global and scoreboard and all...my custom global wasn't backed up...got to start from scratch...

Yeah that's a new one...no crashes in 2k12 either...

That's not a new one, a lot of people are complaining about the PC version, including me and apparently the patch has not fixed it...

Looks like someone has figured out the CTD at the end of the quarter bug over at NLSC! And you don't have to use a mod!
