Falcons get murdered by Eagles ; Drop 2 Straight at Home.. For 1st time

The Falcons have had two of their worst games in SFL history, and surprisingly, they've both happened at home. The Falcons, before these last two games, were 20-1 at home over the last 3 seasons. 23-1 if you count the post season games. But lately, none of that matters. The problems appear to be on the offense, who have bogged down and the secondary, who no longer wants to cover, which is surprising. Atlanta has lost by multiple scores their last 2 games which is a brand new experience for the Mike Smith-coached team.

At the team's morning press conference he was quoted as saying "We went from leading our division to fighting for a Wildcard berth. This isn't the football team that I'm accustomed to seeing. It all starts up front with us." Matt Ryan who has thrown 5 picks in his last 2 games takes most of the blame "I've got to be smarter with the football, we will respond." Michael Turner who has become a turnover machine as of late declined to comment. Julio Jones, the most sure-handed receiver on the team has 10 drops in his last 2 games. Matt has no choice but to count on Roddy and Tony G. Tony and Harry both got hurt last game. Atlanta now has to play against the Bucs, Chiefs and Saints to close out the season. One thing is for sure, Matt Ryan promises vengeance... "We will get this corrected."

Falcons half rough 5 game-stretch ; Lose division, make Playoffs

There's been a lot going on in flowery Branch lately, so let's fill you in on the latest. The Falcons are 2-3 in their last 5 games. Losing to Philly (14-2), Carolina (12-4) and KC (12-4). All good opponents, but Atlanta hasn't been accustomed to this type of adversity, ever.. Regardless of that, Atlanta posted wins over the Saints and Bucs to actually get into the playoff dance as we stand.

Here are some stats for the Falcons for the 2013 season :

Matt Ryan - Although, tackled a lot late in the season. Ryan posted a career high and SFL record, 5,823 passing yards (breaking his own record of 5783 last season), 29 INTs (a career-high) and a Madden 12, league-high 50 TDs.

Mike Turner - He increased his yards per carry to a 4.7 yard per carry average as he racked up 1,368 yards on 298 carries. He also scored 16 rushing TDs, for the 3rd straight season.

Taiwan Jones - Acquired in a trade last season, recorded 6 rushing TDs and helped the team out in short yardage in the passing game.

Tony G - The team leader in catches, registered 89 passes for 1,391 and 8 scores.

Roddy White - He became Ryan's "Go-to" target down the stretch, posting 80 receptions, 1,616 and 12 TDs.

Julio Jones - Injury riddled and inconsistent season for him, but he's posted 60 catches for 1,611 yards and a league high 20 TDs. He also had 14 drops with that, most of them being in that 5 game stretch. But, you can't deny his production..

Harry Douglas - Has his 1st season without 1,000 yards. He put up 43 catchesn 888 yards and 7 TDs. Also injury riddled this season.

Re: Team Page : Atlanta Falcons Dirty Birdz Thread

The Falcons are getting ready for their "Make or Break" season. Training camp was much more relaxed this season. The last few years, it's been more of a military facility if you ask Julio Jones. But, the HC has taken steps to make this a more relaxed atmosphere. The result is the players are on a mission. They pretty much collapsed the 2nd half of last season, which everyone on the roster remembers, to which Matt Ryan responded, "Not again. Not on my watch."

Only time will tell if the Falcons know what they are talking about. Only time will tell if this is their "Destiny."

Above all else, we know we believe in D-Block.

Falcons go to St. Louis ; Rebound accordingly

The Falcons fell apart in the 2nd half of last week's game against Carolina and the same thing almost happened this week as well. Atlanta had to turn it's attention and focus on belief in the "KobeSystem" in order to get through the game. A strong run attack and a consistent passing scheme ultimately allowed ATL to get the win as time expired. The game opened up when Steven Jackson ran up the left side line for a score that had many Falcon defenders who were faster than him, unable to catch him. Ryan responded later in the game with a 25 yard score to Roddy White and Turner ran it for a 5 yard TD.

Turner later ran in another score and the game seemed out of hand. But, then the Rams scored and scored and scored and eventually took the lead very late in the game. Matt Ryan seemed almost nervous because he hadn't led a game-winning drive in quite a while, but he went to work, like Kobe does. He connected with Julio for a 35 yard strike. After a few short passes and some big runs by Turner, Atlanta found itself on the 3 yard line with 20+ seconds left. St. Louis had an aggressive run defense that wouldn't allow Turner to punch it in, pause, but, Bironas sealed the deal as the Falcons won 30-28, all thanks to the KobeSystem.
