Tips needed

I need some tips for both offense and defense. I can hang with a team for a while and then it gets to the point where I can not buy a bucket and they never miss. Any defensive and offensive pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I think the game is fun and I am enjoying it but need some pointers. By the way, the games I played were on all-star. I have not played any games on any other levels.

My advice to build up your skills first, play some games on a lower level or even in the life mode to prepare yourself for the harder levels. It may seem to easy playing on a lower level but it helps you become a better player if you focus on what is successful in the lower levels. Also make sure to play tight D but do not reach in this game, you really get burned by reaching. And I love to pound the ball in the post, it really opens things up for me.

Re: Tips needed

I would say play at a lower level til u get beeter and used to the game.
I would prob. play with a really good team against a team thats not that great. I think that helps me out. Lets me get a feel for the game a whole lot quicker.

Re: Tips needed

I just picked this up yesterday and I have yet to win a game on either All-Star or the level below it (can't remember what it is off the top of my head). I seem to do alright on D when I'm controlling my guy, but my teammates don't do a very good job. They also can't rebound for squat.

Does anyone else have this problem? If not, can anyone provide a tip that perhaps I'm missing?

Re: Tips needed

Just picked up the game and it's great so far. The only issue I have is I don't get any replays. Not a one, are there any replays at all in NBA 09? Thx.

Pay special attention to icon passing,is you are quick enough and see your teammate cutting through the lane, you can hit him for a dunk or pass out for the three, also learn how to time your shot.If you have players that stroke the three well you can build quite a good lead just from these two tips.Oh,and play good D ,good luck!

Re: Tips needed

Thanks for the advice guys. I dropped it down to the Veteran level until I get better at defense. One thing is for sure, help defense in this game blows. I played a game last night and lost by 3 which is much better then being blown out by 20. I realized you need to use turbo sometimes to get an open shot. I am still having fun with the game and getting better with each game played.

Thats a close game if you lost by 3. I have alot of close games as well. I think its more fun when it comes down to the last shot.

Yeah the turbo button is clutch, also the icon passing is huge in the game. And make sure to use head fakes in the lane, because it can be the difference in getting the seperation you need for a dunk instead of a contested lay up. I would also advise playing the life mode, so you can do the challenges, that allows you to concentrate at one skill at a time for the most part and its fairly engaging.

ya, the icon passing is big. I feel like I always come away w/dunks if my passing is solid. I dont use fakes to much but im going to try that out. I prob. should do it more..
