NBA '09 The Inside for PS2

Does anyone have this game for PS2 and can tell us about it? Especially about the gameplay...

I played the demo youvalss. It's improved a heck of a lot from the past. They added a couple new modes including "Franchise" which is a must for any sports game. Just let me say that IMO from the demo it's better than Live 09 but not nearly as good as NBA 2K9. It's definitely the best version of the game produced. However, this is based off the demo version. I may end up picking this game up for my son since he's still playing on the ps2 system. Thanks!

It has a lot of extras in it that make me love it. It runs real smooth, their are some minor bugs but they don't really take away from the fun factor. I've been playing it since itcame out, especially the life mode, its like a basketball RPG which is pretty great.

Re: NBA '09 The Inside for PS2

Demo? What demo? I didn't know they have a demo for PS2...
Anyway, I got the game, but couldn't see the franchise mode. I see: The Life, exhibition (or whatever it's called), season, practice and maybe another one. Can't see the franchise mode.
As for gameplay...didn't really like it. I have NBA '06-'09 (I also have Shootout 2003 and 2004) and I didn't like the gameplay in neither of them. I thought '09 would be better but it's not, at least not for me. Basically you can't really guard anyone - there's no defensive stance (it's automatic or something), the "charge" button is useless and the players keep bumping into eachother too much. Oh and I played vs the Mavs and Jason Kidd dunked at least 4-5 times. WTF?! Not to mention the FT mechanics which is exactly like a regular shot - just releast it when it's green (the same every year).
The commentary is average. I guess if you're not that hyped by The Life thing and more about gamepley - it's not the game for you. At least not for me.
Well, part of it is my fault, time to get a next-gen console...next year probably.

It took me a little while to get used to the gameplay but once I did I have been having a lot of fun. You should try out the life mode if you haven't already, that is fun right off the bat and it can be challenging as well if you up the difficulty

Well, I'm pretty used to the gameplay since I already played NBA '06-'08 and not much has changed. As for the Life mode, I'm more into a franchise and real NBA stuff than a story mode. I already tried the Life last year and before that. It's nice but it's not my thing. I guess I'll stick to my PS2 2K9 until I buy a next-gen console. Live 09 is probably out of the question because...well, you know...

You're right youvalss! THERE IS NO FRANCHISE MODE FOR PS2! What a bunch of lazy people at Sony to not include this for ps2 gamers. There's a demo for ps2 youvalss. I got mine from Blockbuster but I have connections with the local Blockbuster district manager though. I can get a lot of things to preview early from Blockbuster.

I can't believe there's no franchise mode for ps2. Why is what I ask Sony? I can get the game on PS3 but I was planning on getting this game for my son on ps2 but with this mode being left out I'll pass now. I already bought NBA 2K9 on ps2 for my son & also for PS3 for myself. I plan on renting NBA Live 09 on PS3 to see how it is.

I mean Sony added "The Life' mode to PS3 but basically do nothing for the ps2 game. This makes the game not worth buying to me. At least they should've added the franchise mode to help sell the game on ps2. I don't see how they could make much money from this game by not doing anything new really. The franchise mode is a MUST in today's sports games. This is just silly to see. Add it to one system but leave it out for others. I'm just puzzled by this because Sony does such a great job with MLB The Show series.

Thanks for the understanding Tony, nice to have someone else on your side. Anyway, I'll keep waiting for your roster update for 2K9

Hey youvalss! I'm leaning towards NOT doing rosters this year on ps2. I already have downloaded rosters for the PS3. My son is playing NBA 2K9 on ps2 but I have only created a few players that he likes on the ps2. My main focus is now on the PS3. Not roster work on the PS3 because I've not really started doing that on the PS3 console.

I was just trying to help people out that can't afford the newer consoles by doing ps2 rosters still. There's just not much effort put into the ps2 game now. It's basically the same game this year without changing the Sonics team name. There's subtle changes but not much to even tell really. I just bought the game for my son & initially thought I'd work on a roster but shying away from that now. If I get enough people to request a roster on ps2 then I might do one but right now a probable no. Thanks! Sorry, posted in the wrong thread but at least I let you know what my plans are here in the SCEA section.
