Alright, here is the deal,

The CD guys can talk, some. They CAN NOT TAKE QUESTIONS AT THIS TIME. But they can give hands on for you eager beavers.

This thread will be updated as they see fit, so keep checking back.

DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD UNLESS YOU ARE A COMMUNITY DAY ATTENDEE [Reply]

Many things to tell you. Three thumbs up from me although I spent most of my time sort of trouble shooting for things. Finally got in a game with Knight. The young turks are still there, from 0900 til now 2000, 8PM PST. They will all probably be back in in another hour, or two.

We'll have a newer build for tomorrow.

Just a quicky, for editing purposes there are anywhere from 13-25 colors for each thing such as;

gloves, main color
laces
bat barrels
bat handles
bat tape
batting glove
wrist colors
knuckle colors (of the gloves)
elbow guard colors
shin guard colors
8 glasses, frame colors, lens colors
shoe colors
main body of shoe color
shoe tongue color
laces color
soles color
heel colors
knee save colors
protector color, trim, strap, leg guards

107 generic batting stances
some great first names for oldtime rosters, e.g., Dixie, Pepper, Tug, Cap, Preacher,
Minnie, Nellie, Vida, Rube, Boog, Dom, Clete, Oil Can, Dazzy, Dizzy, Lefty, Moose
Duke, Doc, etc.

I think I counted 3980 names in the last name data base

You can play your franchise in ANY stadium.

active bullpens you can look in.

A TON of animations, just a ton. I can't tell you much the BROADCAST fielding camera has done for the game along with the REAL TIME play.

The lighting has just added a ton of depth to the game/field/players and even the crowd got love this year.

Going to turn it in as I'm still soaking went from the walk over. The other guys will be posting some stuff shortly, so NO QUESTIONS PLEASE.

They will post more specifics to many of the questions as I spent most of the eleven hours going through stuff to find the bumps, bruises/glitches. [Reply]

Here are some RTTS notes:

1) For baserunning this year, there is an option in the menu that allows you to choose between either the right stick baserunning or the buttons (R1 and L1).

2) You can play the ENTIRE game if you wish. That's right you can now see every pitch. There are options to allow you to play through every pitch on offense but not on defense. Or you can see every pitch on defense but not on offense. My favourite option enables you to just see the final pitch (ie. the pitch that puts the ball in play) to each batter. If you prefer last year's options they are still there as well.

3) It has already been mentioned, but your RTTS player will not start in major league spring training. Instead he will start in Double A. However, you will get points before the start of the season to use toward your attributes. You will get 300 points for fielders and 500 points for a pitcher. That represents points you would have received normally through spring training.

4) An interesting note. I created a RTTS fielder and played and simmed through a year with the Yankees Double A team. After the season, I was a Rule 5 pick up by Toronto, meaning they had to keep me on the major league roster for my second season. I thought that was neat because the usual progression in the past was Double A sub, Double A starter, Triple A sub, Triple A starter, Major League sub, etc.

5) If you're a RTTS pitcher there is a menu while you are pitching (by hitting the select button) that allows you to see your career record against the batters in the lineup. I thought that was pretty cool.

6) I think it has been mentioned before, but I'll point it out again. As a RTTS catcher you get to pick the pitch and the location of the pitch for the pitcher. You can call a spot in the strike zone or outside the strike zone. [Reply]

Lots to talk about but need to gather my thoughts together on some things. I know many want to hear about the throwing meter so lets talk about it! :-)

Throwing Meter: We are finally going to see some positive progress with meter responsiveness for 10. A player's arm rating will be tied to the meter so even a full meter will only be as good as the player's rating. So if we have an outfielder with a poor rating like Johnny Damon and for example his arm strength has a rating of 45. With that rating lets say his high range would 55mph and his low range would be 30mph. So a full meter would represent the 55mph and a quick tap would be the 30mph.

There is a little bit of a learning curve this year because pre-loading your throws will yield the best result of the most fluid transitions from the time the ball is fielded to getting the throw off. This benefits the user in taking up less time to make the play when you have a quick runner and no time can be spared.

I stated before that the meter locked after the catch but that is not correct. You can still maintain to fill the meter after the branch as there are a few branch animations you can throw from but if you are very late the player will go into that set ready position then get the throw off. The animations are very tight this year and even the set ready pose will quickly go into a throw animation so that everything appears pretty seamless. The only problem with missing your branch is that you are taking up more time to get the throw off which can cost you when you need to be flawless to get the out. [Reply]

Couple of notes on Wrigley from the resident Cub fan:

- The big additions are to the CF scoreboard - the out of town scoreboard and the big analog clock update in real time during the season. Really awesome to see the scores go up inning by inning.

Some seats were taken out of rooftops that weren't there irl.

And, the active bullpen adds so much atmosphere to Wrigley. Heads Up! :-)

More later: tough to peck all this out on the psp. [Reply]

Injuries;
You will be able give a guy an injury...ranging from 1 day to season ending.....you will be able to go back in...and remove the injury at any time...and re-injure him again if necessary. This is going to be perfect for mimicing the real MLB injuries.

As it stands....you will be able to injure players on any team that you "take control" of. The random injuries will then be shut off for that team...so you won't have both....but "having control" of a team may be as much as doing everything for the team(as you can your own) or nothing(leaving everything to the CPU).....and anything in between through the profiles(which you can make any combination of controls...lineups/rotations...injury management...roster management...banking....contracts....free agents....etc) and then set the any team you don't set for control through a global options.(you'll understand better when you see it)
While you can't injure players on the roster itself PRE franchise....you will be able to injure any player from day one of spring training...and the injury will carry over into the regular season and post and off season.
If you want to give A-Rod a 90 rotator cuff injury...but he comes back in 60 days....you can go in on that date(any time actually) and just remove the injury.

Okay...that's number 1.

Braves fans:

Your bottle is in but it is not a coke bottle but a bottle none the less. As far as the animal goes the dalmatian is in! Yes I said it right it is a big dalmatian/cow. Apparently there is a copyright on the cow, lol.

Your animated tomahawk operates at the proper time. The fireworks look awesome in the game!!!!! [Reply]

Okay.....

While potential isn't editable(nor is service time).......potential is POSSIBLY(not meaning it might or might not get in....it's in.....it just that there are percentages IF certain criteria are met) variable.
So...it is possible...to take a C rated player and if he is trained properly AND has some excellent play in the minors......he has a percentage chance to move up to a B or (a smaller percentage chance) to an A. The same goes for the A(or B) to go in the other direction(as you saw in the e-mail in the blog) that a player may not be what was expected. This doesn't seem to be common(GOOD thing)....so you will have to watch your players and others in the league.
The potential letter WILL change (on the player card and in the roster screen)

The e-mail service from your scouts/coaches will be key to keeping up with your minor league players.

Kolbe wasn't lying...the bus does LIVE!

BUT!!!!

Your team has a plane..they use the plane....you will be prompted say if you are the Mets...and playing the Yankees....to take the bus across town...or the Nats...and play the Mets....to take the bus or plane(giving you two dollar amounts on what will be subtracted from your budget)

So....the plane is in. :-)

During the course of the game messages or stats will now briefly appear below the scoreboard. It's a nice presentation feature.

Some examples:
"X player is on deck"
"Mets are 2-for-10 (.200) with runners in scoring position"
"x player has thrown x balls, x strikes"

After a player hit a double I got the message
"x player double" with the number of doubles he has on the season in brackets. [Reply]
