Just had a Franchise Ruined from Retirings.

I just had Damon, Matsui, Jeter, and Mo Rivera retire in my franchise. Jeter retired because of POOR FREE AGENCY MARKET. HE WAS STILL UNDER CONTRACT!! Very disappointing. Especially because I didn't have a save prior to this.

This needs to change next year. Too many players retire when there is no need to. I really hope they allow us to talk them out of retirement next year. I'm pretty sure this will be next year.

Re: Just had a Franchise Ruined from Retirings.

I posted this in another thread:

This has been found by others, but if you want to change who retires in what year you MUST do this BEFORE the draft. It seems that who retires depends on how teams pick players in the draft (to make room for these players essentially). If you save after the draft you are pretty much stuck with what you have. . .it doesn't matter if someone had an amazing year, if someone is 35, etc. So, save, do the draft, save again (on another save slot) and sim to the offseason to see who retires. If you are satisfied, reload your last save. If you are not, reload your first save and try again.

I hope this helps.

Unfortunately there is no way to save your franchise unless you do this before the draft.

Re: Just had a Franchise Ruined from Retirings.

I didn't notice any of the players on my franchise (Brewers) retire - thank goodness. Once I saw the list & this is my 1st year of my franchise, I quickly exited in hopes that those who were on the retired list wouldn't show up again.
But reading what others have said, looks like it'll happen anyway.

I can understand Ken Griffey Jr. retiring & Tom Glavine already did. But John Smoltz? Chipper Jones? & Jon Garland?
I guess I shouldn't worry so much since they won't be on the Brewers roster next year (in real life) anyway.
