The Show 10: Player Models

Will SCEA Revamp/Re-do the player models this year???...IMO thats is one of the only real areas that the game definately needs to update...Last years player models are not BAD but this game could definately use some new art regarding specific player body types...

Also the grass texture and mound visuals need a new artistic update.

Gameplawise this game is damn near perfect but some additional camera angles and smoother animations along with something to make the batter/pitcher matchup more compelling will make this the greatest of all time

What's everyone else thinking?

The developers said they were working on the player models but did not say when they were going to make their debut.

Re: The Show 10: Player Models

I'm on board with the player models and grass/mound textures, although I don't think the player models are bad enough that they will get any upgrade. I'd love to see some presentation updates... really change the in-game and menu graphics, change the style of the overlays and the style of team logos, etc... just give things a new lick of paint.

Give me a broadcast cam and day lighting progression and I'm set. Player models don't really bother me and I believe the devs said they would have to redo animations if they did change models.

For online play I'd like to have the option to pitch using the behind the mound view

It was something that was in the game just before release but had to be taken out because it was not operating properly. The developers know that it is something we want.

Re: The Show 10: Player Models

Well, I know they were working hard to get the models in for this year (I think they even were originally trying for 09, as I recall). Bear in mind though, pretty much every one of those great animations we've come to love would likely have to be redone fro what they've said before.

I'm no programmer, but we might very well have a bit of a trade-off if they push it. Knowing the way these guys operate, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if we found the models pushed back again simply because they weren't satisfied with how it would be released. Unlike lighting, for example, I wouldn't think it's something that can really be done in stages (other than better faces first, like they've done).

All that's simply conjecture on my part though...lol...and I'm all for new models if they get them.

Re: The Show 10: Player Models

The player models are an absolute necessity because this game is so damn good gameplaywise the only real area that needed work was/is player models...The current player models are not bad but its important that the game make that next visual/graphical leap.

I think there also needs to be some work on the pitching and strike zone to encourage people from throwing balls that are BLATANTLY outta the strike zone...In fact a ball that is WAY out of the zone should give the batter some sort of pre-warning. I'm as guilty a the next man at swinging at too many balls outta the strike zone but in reality pitchers never try to throw balls that far outta the zone. I guess for online play I'd like to see more balls in play as opposed to 10-15 game strikeouts

In regards to that kinda I'd like to see pitching be improved. I hate how you almost have no control over a lot of your pitches especially breaking balls even if you're pitching with Greg Maddux.

Also curveballs in the dirt piss me off. It was basically the one thing I liked about 2K9 better than this game. In this game it's so hard to throw a curveball down in the zone where it bounces in front of the catcher without it going past him. In 2K9 the catching aspect (behind the plate) is done very well. I don't know if it has to do with the catcher blocking or what.
I hate throwing curves in this game where it's basically a hanger or a pitch nowhere near where you wanted it.

Re: The Show 10: Player Models

Its been said before, but fielding control and fielding speeds need to be adjusted before graphically upgrades. If they can do both....then super sweet and keep showing us the way!
