CPU releases the hounds?!?!?

i dont get this game at all. in my white sox franchise, on veteran (turned it down from all star to cut out bs) against the indians, i lost it. im pitching a no hitter with danks thru 6 innings. the score is 6-0 with me winning. im tearing up whoever the pitcher was religiously. it was so bad, but the guy's confidence was still above half way. how i dunno because if i let 2 hits go or a run score it plummets like crazy.

then outta nowhere, in true mlb09 fashion, the cpu releases the hounds. one of their worst guys gets a hit finally to ruin my no hitter. no biggie right? i still got 35% energy and full confidence. then comes another. now im panicking. low and behold, the hounds are coming for blood. they went absolutely nuts until it was 7-6 indians. then of course i know now im gonna be able to make it out of the inning now theyve got what they needed. low and behold comes the dribbler for the easy out. they end up beating my with that 7 run barrage in the 7th inning. are u kidding me?!?!

im so tired of this predictable BS. what am i doing wrong. i pitched a freaking no hitter thru 6 innings so dont tell me i dunno how to pitch at all. why is it everytime i get beat, its from a barrage in an unstoppable inning? its never one run here, one run there. its always im up 2-0, cpu gets 2 bs hits that barely make it out of infield and then i know a HR is coming to put them up by 1. then all resumes normal again. i dont see how u guys are winning on legend or hof levels at all. i cant even win on all star or veteran after scoring 6-7 runs.

PS - if veteran is supposed to be easy then why in the world is a 6 run lead not safe. i dont find anything any different then all star. it seems like this game, the difficulty in levels is the exact same.

I just recently stopped playing the show because of the exact same thing. I feel your pain. I went from HOF all the way down to vet and it happened at each level. I'm sad too because I love baseball and the show series. But I think it'll be fight night for the rest of the season.

I might pick it up again after the all-star break but for now I need a rest and I don't have the money to buy new controllers to replace all the ones i chucked at the fireplace. LOL

Re: CPU releases the hounds?!?!?

i play with the white sox alot as well. did you change up your pitching style? i used to have the same problems because i was pitching too aggressively and became too predictable.

what i have found that works for me is after the 5th inning start throwing more balls early in the count, you dont have to go overboard. also if you have breaking pitches, start using them more often, it really makes your fastball seem faster in the later innings when it starts to drop in speed. i know thats hard to do with danks, since he is more of a power type pitcher.

you have a great bullpen with chicago so you need to use them as well, i know you had a no hitter going, but as soon as you gave up that first hit, you should have had 2 pitchers warming up. when you gave up that first run then you should have gotten ready to take danks out. i would have waited to see if he would give up a couple more runs since you were up on them pretty big.

you cannot pitch the same way the entire game, you must change it up. the cpu adapts to your tendancies. take your time and think about every pitch you throw.

Re: CPU releases the hounds?!?!?

yea i was paying big attention to varying locations and trying to do speed. yea it is hard with danks. that boy is a monster and hard to get him to throw pitches in the 80's. but i was throwing balls, up, down, left, right, corners all that. honestly thats what got me the no hitter thru 6 innings. and my first at that cuz i always give up at least 1 run before that.

i was being very careful since the indians were 1st in the division. i left danks in until they took him down to 0 confidence in that inning. only took their string of hits rally and a hr. now why the cpu's pitcher confidence didnt drop to 0 after giving up 6 runs in 3 innings is beyond me. they did one mound visit in the 1st, but he still gave up 4 more runs in the next 2 innings. anyway, 7th inning i brought in a warmed up jimmy gobble who is a lefty as well...maybe i shouldve brought in a righty to mix it up? didnt matter tho cuz i gave up no more runs after i "fed the beasts" in the 6th and then changed to gobble.

damn i love this game....but i dont get understand how stuff like this happens. how u can have a 6-7 run lead in the late game on easy difficulty but still dont feel safe.

yea i did change the next inning. i didnt wanna pull danks too quick in the 6th just becuz of a few hits. unfortunately thats all it took tho for them to score 7 runs. a few hits then an inevitable multiple run hr. then with 0 confidence he can finish the bleeding after they blew their load all over me with an infield dribbler.

So Danks gave up all 7 runs?

Re: CPU releases the hounds?!?!?

yep. he gave up a few runs and i didnt pull him. i tried to give him a chance to work out of it and before i know that inevitable hr came and its a wrap. i was also trying to buy time for gobble to get fully warm. i put him in the pen immediately after the first hit cuz i know how this game can be. he didnt have much time to get warm unfortunately. i wouldve had to warm him up in the 5th and i wasnt thinking bout it cuz i planned to let danks go for the no hitter game since he still had energy and full confidence.

I don't man, that seems to be more a case of bad management then anything. I'm all for trying to let someone work out of a jam, especially when they have been pitching so well, but after 2, 3, or 4 runs or straight hits, I'd pull him.

It seems that Danks hit a wall and couldn't get around it and should've been pulled for a relief pitcher.

Just my opinion.

even a not warm or half warm reliever? ive had bad luck when i put barely warm relievers in cuz i get in a jam outta nowhere. i do think i have a prob warming guys up. i tend to forget sometimes that i can warm up guys and then sit em if i dont need em now. im gonna pay more attention so i always have guys warm. but usually i get my relievers shelled regardless. when i go to bullpen i usually lose in the 9th somehow. bobby jenks get shelled sometimes and i think hes pretty good closer so i dunno

u got any tips on how to manage bullpen countryboy? i usually warm up guys around 5th or 6th inning and get em in even if starter isnt dead tired yet. try to let them go to 8th and then bring in closer.
