Sliders still broken>>>?!

Since walks were seemingly hard-coded into the game last year to be very low, in the demo I dropped the pitcher's control, strikes, and consistency sliders to ZERO ...and still worked ZERO walks.

Why even have these sliders of they are not effective? Now obviously a player shouldn't play with the sliders maxed down to this degree, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. To drop the sliders down to ZERO, the affect should be HUGE.

I worked the count, fouled off plenty of pitches but just like last year, you get 3 balls into a count more often than not the pitcher is coming back with 3-4 pitches in the zone.

That is just not realistic.

Now before you guys reply with how many walks you have, the point of the thread is that adjusting the sliders should take an affect on gameplay and especially if the user maxes them down. Apparently....It just doesn't.

SCEA if this can be addressed before release I'm sure just about every gamer would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks!

I haven't had any problems drawing walks with default sliders.

he's saying that lowering the sliders should have an effect, if there not then either they don't work or it's just a demo thing.

Haha, hang around here long enough and you'll quickly realize it's always the game's fault, never the player's...

Re: Sliders still broken>>>?!

Walks were NOT hard coded into last years games. I don't know how many times I could hit the R2 button to see that I had a 3-2 count when I should have walked, a 1-2 count when it should have been 3-0, and struck out of three pitches when it should have been 3-0. Walks were not hard coded into the game.

I will never understand people saying they could not draw walks. I'm a free swinger and I had to live with it or get a better eye. This year I'm seeing a LOT of balls thrown out of the zone so far, but I'm so used to 08 I'm swinging at a bunch of balls. I have to undo the bad habits of 08, real quick.

Re: Sliders still broken>>>?!

I have tweaked some sliders (strike%, CPU-control and consistency (?)) a few clicks (1-2 to the left) and I've drawn a few walks so far.
Over the 4 Innings in the demo, I usually draw 1-3 walks.

I know this has been a huge problem in 08 and if it is not 100% fixed "out of the box", maybe the SCEA-crew will work on it inthe patch.

Re: Sliders still broken>>>?!

I've gotten at least 2 four-pitch walks from the CPU so far, and one of those was to my PITCHER. Last game, the CPU pitched around Ryan Howard with 2 outs, runner in scoring position, and first base open; that would've been another four-pitch walk but I chased a slider early in the count before I realized the CPU didn't want any piece of Howard.

I agree that in '08 walks were a huge problem, but they weren't hard coded. The problem wasn't the CPU throwing balls, it was the kind of balls the CPU threw, the CPU always threw pitches just out of the strike zone or in the strike zone no matter who the pitcher was. Someone figured out the right set of sliders to get pitchers to throw balls that weren't just off the plate and completely changed RTTS for me (walks were tougher to earn than HRs). To walk, you basically had pray the ump would call the borderline pitch a ball with default sliders.

What difficulty are you playing on? I'm playing on Legend and I actually think the CPU pitchers start throwing too many balls when you string a few hits together, the pitcher seems to get flustered too quickly. If you're playing on a lower difficulty than HoF, the CPU might be throwing too many strikes to help you hit better. It's easier to hit when there are more strikes thrown.

Now you're looking for the secret. But you won't find it because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be, fooled.

Exactly! And Im sure if he looked at the pitch chart there were probably pitches that were out of the zone that were swung at.

I've drawn walks on default, and probably would have drawn a lot more if I hadn't swung at balls, just trying to "protect" the plate on 3-2 counts.
