Sony might of jumped the gun on that guarantee

Sony recently stated on their site feature list that they'd have the most personalized player animations guaranteed. Well on The Show 09's other feature list (Pastapadre.com), it states they'll have over 150 new personalized pitcher & batter animations. Meanwhile, 2K just released their fact sheet & claims to have more than 300 new signature player animations for 2K9. So it would seem that 2K's including twice as many new signature moves compared to Sony?? I suppose It could be that Sony's counting the batters entire sequences as a whole. I'd hope so since MLB 2K7 & 2K8 had a ton of new signature stuff already & now they've upped it to 300+ more?..... sounds pretty damn good.

Not that I completely believe 2K's write up & I do have alot of faith in SCEA, but still.......

Chris would you care to elaborate on this a bit? If were getting an animation overhaul (which I thought was the case) with The Show 09, then why aren't the numbers closer to 300 for your product as well? Just talking personalized/signature player animations specifically, not gameplay or cutscene stuff. I kinda thought we'd be seeing close to 150 new batter animations alone, with BSG's contributions to the game..... so what about the pitching motions?

I realize that I've beaten this into the ground year after year. But in my view, the true champion will be the 1st development team to implement full-on signature swings/follow-through's for the top batters. From what KushGamer mentioned last yr, 2K was possibly looking into this for 2K9. Well he's no longer with the company & plans might of changed with VC taking over, but just maybe that's where their 300+ total is coming from? I know it'd be easier for Sony since they've got BSG for the follow-throughs, except you never know.

One thing you have to consider when comparing the two products which are 2k and SCEA are this:

With SCEA you know that whatever they put out is fact. Also with all of their expeirience with the show franchise and their community involvement you can expect that SCEA animatins will be right on this time around. I know the past two years the sig style has been horrible, but this year they did an overhaul with the stances and pitching and the mannerisms. I might be jumping the gun but hopefully I am right when I say that this year the players will look, feel and play just like their counterparts.

With 2k you hvae to be careful what they say. Hopefully they didnt fully focus on adding more sig stuff rather than fix their broken disc they call a game. I really like mlb2k series and wish the best for it but its a continual struggle counting on them to come through. They have crappy marketing, crappy online interaction with us here in OS and their own site (and when they do interact they are complete tools and jerks) 2k's games are alwasy broken and often a repeated cut copy paste game. I would rather have the show with only 150 animations of sig stuff added rather than a whole slew of sig stuff but 30FPS and horrible graphics and bad gameplay with no outside animations (player interactions and stuff) Besides some of thier sig stuff (not all!) are flat out bad. Ian Kinslers bat motion stinks as well as a few others.

Wow! They "better"?

I'm so glad that I'm unable to identify every batting stance in the Major Leagues. Not to say they aren't important, but.....lot less stressful that way.

I may be in the minority on this(maybe not)....but I'm not really fascinated with batting stances and pitching motions.
I understand why some people are..but as long as they are close and there are enough to choose from.....

But eric...to say whoever has more is "the champion"?....are you serious?

Just curious. What do you intend to do if SCEA reneges on their "gurantee"? Just curious.

Actually Jim...I think he's saying...that doesn't really matter.
Anyone can guarantee something...it's hogwash.
It's just the way it played out....it looks like he's saying that to SCEA, but I think he meant that 2K is the one in the box

Re: Sony might of jumped the gun on that guarantee

For the life of me....we have two weeks left until we preview the final product. No amount of insisting, pleading, etc., is going to change one thing right now. Perhaps they might find something in the game that's causing problems and have to take it out, and perhaps there's fine/fine tuning going on, but a little patience with the SCEA guys would be nice, not telling them they'd "better" do something.

I think the "request window" has come and gone. These guys have listened to us the last year. If we don't like the final product, or don't think we'll like it....rent first.

Knight,

I am with you. I could care less about exact stances and pitching motions. Just goes to show that one man's steak...

It's the least critical part of the game for me.
