lol...while I don't disagree with you (at least not on overall theme) I find this post ironic. You "poo-poo" realistic contracts and in-depth management because you don't feel the need to mess with it. You then try to convince someone else that what they feel isn't important is.

Truth is, contracts are as much a part of baseball as rain (actually more nowadays). Both can have impact on strategy, you guys just fall on different sides on which is more important.

I think that you flew by the point that was being made in a rush to post your take on rain's importance. We might not all agree on what is "important" but we don't have to. If the contracts are editable you don't have to edit them. If they make rain (and corresponding effects) an option, you don't have to incorporate it.

I think that was basically the only point being made. Just because you or I don't find something important doesn't mean many other's won't disagree.

Sorry, just enjoyed the irony of you response

My goodness, that wasn't my point. The point was...just because YOU don't think payroll is a big issue doesn't mean that it isn't. But I can tell you that contracts and salaries are a much bigger part of baseball than rain is, though I wasn't here to debate the importance of precipitation. I was simply puzzled by your addition to the thread. You don't care about payroll. Hmm, okay? And? That doesn't mean it's not important to the game.

I agree they were ok, but when a backup SS like John Mcdonald won't take anything less than 7 million it kills the realism. And then he ends up rotting on the Free Agent list.

Unfortunately I have not completed my franchise yet. But if McDonald had helluva a year; he could command a high salary. Salaries are base on yearly performances, especially if they are up for free agency..

Actually, salaries are quite random in The Show. They are based primarily on rating, but McDonald might ask for 7 million in one franchise and 4 in another.

I agree that it should be that the previous season's numbers made a big difference in market value, but it doesn't in 08. Plus, a backup SS would have to have a huge "helluva year" to command 7 mil...lol. The Show's financial system is pretty poor overall, IMO.
