Tied, Last Game of Season

Hey guys, I hope all is well.

I just have a question concerning a tie in my regular season. After the final game in the season, the Phillies won the division in the NL East while the Braves took the Wild Card. Now, in the NL Central, the Astros and the Brewers were tied. After I went on to the playoffs(I made it with my Yankees), I saw that the Astros won the division. Expecting to see an extra game played between the Brewers and the Astros, I looked at each of their schedules, but I didn't see any extra games.

My question is, how did the game(CPU) choose the Astros over the Brewers? It appears they either randomly chose one or, even worse, it was chosen by alphabetical order(like the problem with the Gold Glove Pitcher awards). I'm hoping...HOPING...that I'm crazy and it's neither of these. I'm really excited about these playoffs, and that excitement would be swiftly killed by finding out the Brewers were cheated out of the playoffs this way.

Thank you for any input/help. I appreciate it.

Is it possible it was decided by winning percentage for a certain period or did it determine it by who won the in season series when they faced each other?

If two teams are tied for a division lead, and one would get the wild card anyways, then they award the division to the team who won the head-to-head series. If they are tied and only one team is getting in (this is the same as two teams from different divisions being tied for a wild card), there's a one game playoff held at the home of the team who won the head-to-head series.

In a nutshell, if one playoff spot is at stake, one-game playoff.

If both teams would get in, head-to-head winner gets division, loser gets wild card.

That doesn't explain his situation though. He said the Braves were the Wild Card. So the re was definitely a playoff spot at stake.

I bet that the Brewers lost the season head-to-head. The programmers may not have included a one-game playoff scenario. If the Brewers won the head-to-head and were not crowned champs that would be a bad deal...

It kind of ruins the immersion...

Hello guys. Thank you for your responses.

I was not able to see who won the head-to-head games between the Astros and the Brewers, but it turns out the Astros had a better division record than the Brewers. Maybe that's how it's decided? Whatever the case may be, that's what I'm choosing to imagine happened. . .don't wanna mess up the immersion flow, lol.

Yeah the lack of a one-game playoff is sort of annoying.
