Difficulty level

I play in franchise mode, manage only. Which difficulty level makes the even between the player and the computer controlled teams?

Thanks

Somebody on the dev team (Brian_SCEA if I'm not mistaken) said last year that difficulty level has no effect on Manage-Only mode. It only affects games where the user is actively controlling the players.

Really? Thanks, I'm surprised to hear that. This games reminds me so much of high heat that I figured some of the same people developed this game and the difficulty definitely had an effect on that game. Default was veteran but all star was even.

Thanks again,
Al

Re: Difficulty level

Yep....bcruise is correct.
MoM is one difficulty level.
Which makes sense...at least as far as gameplay.
Perhaps down the road, they could add the ability to make the franchise(trading and contracts mainly) more difficult at higher levels ala OOTP.

Re: Difficulty level

Coach modes are a new interest of mine. I understand that the Manage Only Mode in The Show is about as good as it gets so I'm thinking about getting the game back and starting a franchise where I'd only manage the games. How good is the CPU at managing its teams in terms of rosters, trades, free agents, call-ups, etc?

merc..

It's pretty much the same as far as the franchise goes.
The on the field general is very good.
Some minor quirks...but nothing that makes me want to stop playing..not at all.
Remember...if you're a true MoM nut like me...I actually alter the settings to reflect a teams tendencies(and their manager....something I hope SCEA eventually incorporates...manager tendencies...for both MoM and the regular games) such as the Manager hook slider and the baserunning sliders.
When playing Joe Torre...I give the team a little quicker hook as far as pitchers....it's subtle, but I find it does make a difference.
Another is....your runners sometimes want to take off on their own(stealing)....it doesn't happen all the time....so when it does(and it's always a hit and run)....I just play it off as and aggressive baserunner who missed a sign....
IMO this manage only mode is THE BEST out there and I've played 'em all....believe me.
Funny, but there was one guy who said he couldn't understand how us MoM guys played that way....he tried it and has been hooked!(I forget who....he'll probably pop in this thread)

Hit me up when you get the game and I'll give you my MoM settings...they are nothing out of the ordinary, but it does make a slight difference.
