Anyone else hate the structure of Road to the show?

Let me just say this game is phenomenal, even RTTS is pretty darn good. BUT am I the only one who really doesnt care for how its set up? heres some beefs with it.

- A million different catagories to worry about, IE bunting in advancement goals for a pitcher (I get it but really who cares it wastes points) also 3 different areas for each pitch, I understand that as well but it takes a million years to make your fastball go past 86 its annoying. it would be better off just having one catagory named fastball that does all three.

- those pop up screens that pause the game, the coach messages ok we get it, induce ground ball, score the run, steal blah blahblah the easy way to this is have the sentence just flash by at the top of the screen dont stop the game to tell me something it slows it down and gets annoying.

- Brutal loading times, especially if you want to be a closer, theres gotta be a way to make games consecutive at least 3 at a time.

- Baserunning, its awful there should be a button to push that forces the action, press it if you know youre not going to steal, if you are going to steal just leave it and pick your time. problem solved.

- Missing key points, no gamer wants to feel jipped so when I push my team to the post season and win the clinching World series game i want to see a first person view of running out of the dugout onto the pile at the plate, or be the closer getting trampled on, not a screen saying quit game and hear vasgersian go crazy.

Overall RTTS is great and I get that its in its early stages this is what the 3rd year maybe, but still theres somethings you can pick up on right away that should be fixed.

Meh....these are all of course valid stuff that needs to be implemented, my main beef with RTTS is the fact that if I dont meet the stupid minority goals of the manager, I wont get promoted and I dont start. I am the SS for the rays organization, and I am now the backup SS for the aa biscuite and I lead the entire league in SB's, RBI's, and HR's, and BA. I am the leagues hottest hitter yet I never start. Oh, I did once when the starter got hurt, then I was back in the reserve role saying I didnt get a whole lot done. HELLO!!!!Look at my stats VS his. He is on the lower totem pole. Its like starting napolean dynamite over jimmy rollins!

Yeah thats true too, stats should be what youre judged on not ratings really.

I agree that coach messages and situations don't have to stop the game. They could be on-screen as you play.

For the pitches, I like how it is. I have 5 pitches, so obviously I have to work on them. However, if you work on, say, curveball break, it will also delay how soon you need to work on curveball speed and curveball control. So it does work that when you change one facet, the others improve.

Also, it's good to have those 3 things because obviously you want to work on curveball break more than curveball velocity, or fastball velocity and control more than break, etc. I think it works well.

Actually, I'm fine with the coach instructions screen for one big reason - the entire game situation is displayed. If you're playing every pitch of a ballgame that's one thing, but when most of the game is being simmed around you like in RTTS, you need to know exactly what the situation is in order to make the correct play. For example in the field you need to know the inning, score, runners on base, and out count at the bare minimum to make the right play. Scrolling a bar across the screen would take too long - you'd never get past the first two pieces of that info before the pitch.

Even putting the score bug up on the fielding screen wouldn't help that much - you'd have about 4 or 5 seconds to process the entire situation, and that could get ugly with runners on 2nd or 3rd with only 1 out. Players in real life can start thinking about the situation they're going to be in as soon as the previous at-bat ends - not 5 seconds before the pitch.

I think this one is a necessary evil. JMO.

I agree 100% with the baserunning. Nothing worse than getting a leadoff single and then having to sit through 20 foul balls and three strikeouts. Please give us the option to skip the baserunning next year.

Re: Anyone else hate the structure of Road to the show?

Some good points here.
RTTS is a great addition by SCEA IMO and I'm sure they will improve it a little each year.
Overall, I love RTTS and it's fast becoming equal to MoM as far as to how I play The Show.
Stats should play a more vital role in the managers decisions.....it is a bit strange when you are hitting .360 and the manager continually plays a guy hitting .220...but also the difficulty could be ramped up a bit so that you are not the leagues hottest hitter all the time
I like the baserunning, but I do wish there was some better notification on ground balls.....it's tough to pick up whether you should be hoofing it from the get go or not(I know...pick up the 3B coach....)...
I'm looking forward to hearing about what changes RTTS has this year.

Agreed with everyone here. My closer had a 2.11 ERA after taking over for the injured Matt Capps and the best I could do was a AA contract the next year. Frustrating to put 5 seasons worth and not be able to compete for the job. This mode is a hell of a lot of fun though.
