Thumbs up 44MPH Winds + U.S. Cellular Field = Wind Blown Triple

In my Rays franchise:

Top of the 2nd, no score, Gavin Floyd pitching for the Chisox...

Crawford gounds out 6-3...1 out

Longoria hits a chopper to deep short for an infield single

Floyd reaches first on a fielder's choice (1-6)...two outs

Navarro strikes out swinging, but the ball gets by Pierzynski and Navarro is safe on first and Floyd pulls up at second

Bartlett lines a single to center, Floyd scores...1-0 Rays

Iwamura reaches out over the plate and slaps a fastball to shallow left. The ball started out over the shortstop position, but was severeyl drifting and cutting towards the third base line.

Left fielder Quentin, who was playing deep, ran in about 20 steps towards the line, hesitated and dove at the last moment. He missed the ball and it rolled all the way to the base of the third base stands, not far from the rolled up tarp. By the time Quentin recovered and threw the ball in to Uribe at third, Iwamura was sliding in headfirst with a 2-RBI triple.

Amazing

Now that is cool.

There is so much untapped little things in this game, that it amazes me that they are still being discovered!

I agree. I really want to sim to the playoffs. I'm 12 games up in mid-August. But I just don't want to miss any of the little things.

this is the most complete game. There wasn't any glaring issues that ruined the game. I cannot wait for 2009.

Re: @ Zippy

I played 96 games in a season until I found out about this site and all the great work you guys do and started over. So I'm ready to get to the playoffs. However, I can't bring myself to miss any of little stuff. I figure once I get to Sept. I will just rotate some of the minors guys in to shake things up.

Just had to add another new sight, Derrek Lee was hitting took a low strike turned and looked at the umpire said something and kicked dirt across. It was priceless. It looked exactly like what a player would do if he didn't agree with a call.

I had the White Sox for my online team and the diversity in wind blown hits was pretty amazing. There were pop ups that started out in the stands and came back into the field of play and vice versa. Good stuff!

I thought the wind was waaaay overdone in US Cell. It does swirl but it was regularly more than 20 mph ... which is a bit much ... luckily the slideer fixed it.
