Well thats too bad, but I guess they have their reasons. Any word on whether Chris & the gang are still revamping the signature player animations for 09?... or are the mascots getting all the moves?

Damn whomever brought up this idea for mascots as we needed better, more precise player models & a revamped hitting/pitching engine above all else. I guess all we can hope is that maybe they'll surprise us.

Well, I would imagine that significant improvements to the player models would take much more time than some mascot stuff. I'm thinking they probably didn't want to rush the player models at the expense of other time consuming things that could be more easily implimented tuned. I'm thinking (and all this is said with no intimate knowledge of programming whatsoever...so it's as much conjecture as the next guy's thoughts) that in order for the player models to be improved it would have to be a start from scratch kind of project. I mean their was really no change in the models themselves from 07 to 08...it was the face scans, lighting, and improved cloth physics (or whatever it's formerly called).

Anyway, not meaning to ramble, but it's been my experience that any game that offers completely revamped player models in one year, usually doeasn't deliver much else. I trust these guys judgement.

I PMed Chris and asked him of he could give us an update on the signature animations in the Pet Peeves topic. He said he would try and give us an update "this week." That was a month ago. So who knows.

I hope to heck they are revamping the signature stances and motions, as it's one of the most complained about parts of The Show. If they leave the same inaccurate motions and stances in the game and add nothing but mascots and rain, I will be pretty disappointed.

In my opinion the player models are great in 08. I also hope they dont touch the hitting and pitching engine since they are perfect in my mind. They are the best in any baseball game for me. I hated the hitting and pitching engine that MLB 2k8 uses. Too gimmicky and a pain in the @ss to play with.

I hope they can incorporate day/night transistions and weather effects in 09.

Thoses are the two things that i think really needs to be changed, pressing buttons to pitch and hit is rather boring IMO.

They have been working on 3-D models of Major League mascots, yes. But again, I highly doubt that is the only improvement they make in a year. I think it's a fun little addition that should not come at the expense of anything else.

But we'll hear more on these additions in December. For now, be patient. I doubt any of you is more than 5 years into your RTTS...

Well I agree that the game plays very well as is & doesn't need much done to the hitting engine. I guess I'd mainly like to see 100% working sliders. When the foul tip slider is labeled as creating less swings & misses when raised, then I want to see a ton of swing & misses when its lowered to 0. In fact I'm convinced that slider isn't even functioning in 08. I know there are quite a few that aren't.

As far as the player models, well they mainly need to do something about the wide shoulders. Other than that they're pretty much okay.

So basically the top three things for 09 would be:

1- Greatly improved signature pitching & batting motions.

2- Completely functional sliders that are much more effective & cause drastically noticable changes when altered.

3- Realistic weather conditions (rain, overcast, snow) along with day to night transitions.

If those 3 things happen & nothing gets broken in the process. The Show 09 will be one incredible game....... with mascots as well.
