I'll take a look at changing it to '83...

Question A's fans(gotta be a little "old" ) .....who the heck was the pitching coach back in '89?!...almost EVERY guy on that staff threw a forkball somewhere in their arsenal!

I'll have a little recap for you later after I finish them up and pit them in a semi-recreation of the 1973 World Series....(well it will be the A's and the Mets )

Although the '83 sox are good I'd prefer the '93 sox. More stacked in my opinion. Either one is fine though.

Either way you can't go wrong.....but it would be cool to see Knight's recreation of Greg " The Bull " Luzinski

I wouldn't mind seeing the 1979 Pirates. We Are Family with Willie Stargell, Dave Parker, Omar Moreno and Blyleven. The 84 Tigers is another I would love to see. Either of those 2 teams would be great.

He's already in!....on the 1980 Phillies...but I know what you mean.

I did the 1979 Pirates and the 1984 Tigers last year. I've already done the 1940 Tigers(HANK GREENBERG!! )
I would love to get Roberto Clemente in the game this year also...

Last nights test game was a franchise game featuring the '80 Phillies and the '89 Athletics. I really wanted to match up the '73 Mets against the A's, but they don't play them this year and I like to play the game with the stats on board and then finish out the year to look at how the stats look.
I somehow forced myself to take control of the Philthies(Ugh) and went with what was on the schedule....Bob Walk(4-8) vs. Dave Stewart(4-9).
Both teams struggling in their divisions, so each game was important.
Dave Stewart started the game by striking out Pete Rose, but then walked Bake McBride on 4 pitches. It didn't take long for Mike Schmidt to find a pitch he liked and he deposited over the 400 foot mark in dead center field. Dave Henderson made a valiant effort, but Schmidt really got a hold of it and it gave the Phillies a 2-0 lead right off the bat.
Bob Walk looked like a 4-8 pitcher walking 4 batters in the first two innings including the speedy Rickey Henderson who stole two bases in his first two times at base.
By the fifth inning the A's managed to put 4 runs on the board to take a 4-2 lead and it looked like Stewart was going to cruise into the 7th or 8th with the game in hand...he really settled down and scattered 6 Philly hits over those five innings....but in the sixth on a wild pitch Pete Rose took second base and Mike Schmidt hit his second homerun over the LF wall this time and Henderson didn't even budge. It was an absolute BLAST.
With the score tied in the eighth and Ron Reed on the mound for the Phillies, the A's put two men on when Stan Javier and Mike Gallego both reached base on errors. One by the usually steady 3B Mike Schmidt and the other on a bunt attempt by Gallego to pitcher Ron Reed.
With RP Gene Nelson due up and Reed a little gassed, I went to the lefty Kevin Saucier(mistake...I didn't look at the A's bench ) and the A's countered with PH Jose Canseco. He immediately jumped on a fastball and doubled in the gap to score both runners. He then scored himself on a Rickey Henderson double down the line and with Dennis Eckersley(gave up just 34 hits all year in '89!) coming in to pitch the ninth.... the Phillies fate was sealed...a 7-4 loss.

I've got the '73 Mets, '98 Braves, '80 Phillies, '32 Yankees, '40 Tigers, '89 A's and partially the '90 Reds done.
When I finish the '90 Reds and the '48 Indians(or the '86 Red Sox) I'll post 'em for you guys to fool around with. It's really a lot of fun to use these teams.
