Quick Q's:

What is the diff between the AI in the demo disc and the actual game disk?

This is my first experience with The Show and to see the developers on here answering questions...wow...I am blown away.

Re: AI Follow-up Questions...ie The Boys are back in town....

Few devs in the industry would come for some post-release abuse/praise. Thanks for supporting your game. I enjoy the AI guy's explainations.

There is quite a bit of experimenting going on with sliders to get things just right. Without explaining any AI secrets or going into the minutia or how they work, could you give an overview of the sliders' affects to help those guys understand what it is they're tweaking and save them some time?

Thanks again. I'll be picking up The Show and a PS3 in a few weeks when I fly in from Europe. Will be down in your neck of the woods for a few days too (San Diego) to catch a Padres game.

Okay we looked at this today. What mode are you getting this in? We tried RTTS and it didn't create multiple files. I thought I read you post amd you said you manually save the series. Oh by the way you can turn off autosave in the front end.

Same here!!! Just jumped ship from "the other baseball game" because of the major letdown this year IMO. But that´s another story.

Awesome game of baseball guys! Congratulations on putting such an effort and passion into the development and achieving this kind of final game.

My questions are about swing influence with the Right Stick. Does it really help getting more doubles, triples, HR´s and a better hit variety etc.? Could I get the same result without using it? When does it work most effectively?

Does changing the Pitch Speed slider affect hit quality or other things like stolen base success rate?

Re: AI Follow-up Questions...ie The Boys are back in town....

Would there be a way to make the fielder speed...especially OF speed...slider more effective or pronounced? The OFs seem to be way too fast and get to too many balls...cutting them off in the gaps. This cuts down dramatically on extra base hits and has an effect on gameplay. Many people seem to be playing with OF speed with slider all the way down and it helps a bit, but the consensus is it really should be more effective.

Secondly, also tweaking the sliders so pitchers (both cpu and human) throw more balls and issue more walks would be great too. It's better than it used to be, but it can be tweaked a bit more I believe.

Lastly, is there a way to tweak to get the CPU OFs to throw through to a base rather than hit the cutoff man almost all the time?

Thanks for a great game!

Chris

In other words, HoF is for the best player out of 10, and they'll typically win at least 1/2 of 162 games with an average team. On OS, that might be the best out of five players. If you need handicapped sliders just to play on HOF, you'd play a more realistic game on Allstar. The difference between Allstar and HoF is difficulty, not AI intelligence. The increase in difficulty is split between batting and pitching, so each difference may seem minor even though it's enough to eliminate most users from qualifying. Skill/ability in baseball is revealed over multiple games, and as previously mentioned don't be surprised to win a few games on HoF and lose a few on Veteran. Even AA/AAA teams can beat MLB teams on occasion.

This is a major concern right now because it is the CPU who needs the major handicapped sliders to play on HOF. Even when sliders are slanted in their favor the cpu offense has been very streaky at times and sometimes non-existent. Something was drastically changed from 07 to 08 because last year the cpu was a beast(how they should be on HOF).

Any insight as to why the cpu is not responding on a consistent basis?

Thanks in advance!

Re: AI Follow-up Questions...ie The Boys are back in town....

a few things

1. you guys made hands down the best game of baseball EVER...and I have played most games since the early 90s. Congratualtions

2. Very impressed that you guys had the courage to come on here...says alot about your character and love of the game. I gues it is made easier because of #1

3. If you need help for MLB 09, i heard Brinkman might be looking for a job...lol

OK on to the serious stuff.

1. Just a thought for next year, make user downloadable rosters as well as sliders

2. is guess pitch suppose to simulate being able to read the spin or is it just a pure guess

3. Will the following be included in the opening day roster update (Fukodome and other japanese players, Evan Longoria and other rookies, Joe Girardi and other new managers)

4. Please elaborate on the mechanic for breaking up double plays...what determines if it will be broken up or not.

5. Diving catches...what determines what kind of catch will come up out on the dive...some are feet first others head first.

6. This is more next year stuff...PLEASE GOD if you give us a swing stick (and you dont have to) dont make it timed only and keep all the previous options for hitting.

7. What can we do to make it more difficult to steal bases. I feel like I can steal at will.

I dont really have anything else...you guys made an unbelieveable game. There are so many things that you did right its not even funny. My wish list for next year might include

1. 3 team trades
2. Fake name minor leaguers based on real minor leaguers.
3. The ability to better control other teams rosters/lineup etc in season and franchise.
4. Less clipping amonst runners and infeilders and Outfeilders and the wall.
5. Tone down some of those OF arms a bit.
