You know what, while I don't like the number system all that much, I would go for a 20-80 scale like the scouts use, or a minus/average/plus/plus-plus scale like what you see in scouting reports. To me this would better appropriate the way skills are assessed in baseball and it would still leave plenty of room to discover your player's strengths on the field. Those categories are far less exact than 95 or 99, and I like that.

I would also like the ability for scouting reports to be off and for busts to happen. It would be really cool if you were a team with great scouting talent the game produced more reliable scouting reports than those available to a team with a mediocre department.

I just don't get why gamers want to have an exact and foolproof picture of their players--that takes the fun out of it for me.

Exactly.
I think I was trying to get across that scouting reports would be better(even using a number scale...) as long as they are not always 100% correct.
My point with the 1-100 scale is as Trojan stated.....it's basically EXACT and it leads to column clicking for everything.
Where is the fun(or realism!) in that?....

I'm not against a number system(which is still basically what the bar system is).....I just don't want the 1-100 number system...especially being dead on.

^^I agree with both of you there, the 20-80 scale would be perfect for a baseball game, and it'd be even better if you had multiple scouts reporting to you their opinion of players.

I think people like the exact number system because it allows you to really compare current players and edit them accordingly.

Add more variety of errors. I just realized the other day that after playing this over the summer, I've never seen an infielder boot the ball, it's always a throwing error. I've also NEVER seen an OF error.

I have seen infielders boot balls, occasionally, still not one OF error in all the games I've played. HOWER, AND I SAY IT AGAIN.....that stupid high throw. Yesterday, close game, runner on third, two outs, routine grounder to second, second baseman takes his time, double pumps and I could feel it coming. HIGH THROW TO FIRST, RUNNER SAFE, GAME TIED.

Please SCEA do something! (I know you will )

Re: The Extremely Early Wish List Thread

Just finished my daily game. This is on the throwing again. I know it doesn't happen that often, but I had three plays in ONE INNING where there was that very high lob from the first baseman to the pitcher covering. Each time it resulted in a safe call at first when the runner should have been out.

I'm down to the knitty gritty in my season and trying to make the play offs and lost the game yesterday because of the high throw. Today it was the other team that did it, but throwing animations really need work.

Please work on the throwing animations. Looking forward to 09. (Please release it in January.)
