Re: **MLB 08: The Show (All versions) Bugs/Glitches Thread**

PS3: In the final boxscore, the last pitcher i used is not listed under pitchers used but is listed under the batting order with a C (I guess it means catcher?). Can anyone help me with this.

Re: **MLB 08: The Show (All versions) Bugs/Glitches Thread**

There's only two major bugs that I've noticed on the PS3 version so far:

1. I can steal bases at will with any player with any speed. I am now 18-0 with stolen bases using Alex Rios. He is good but not that good. I've tried raising the catcher's arm strength but no luck yet. I am reluctant to lower the player speed because I think the default speed is the only way they will ever get any triples and many doubles.

2. In my first game Blue Jays vs Yankees, I used Reed Johnson as a pinch runner for Greg Zaun (who was batting 8th at the time). The next inning I moved Reed Johnson to Left Field and in turn he took the number 2 spot in the batting order (the spot the old left fielder was in). This doesn't make sense does it? Even if he moves positions shouldn't he have to remain in the same batting spot (i.e. the spot Greg Zaun was in?). This seems like a pretty big bug.

I think this happens pretty often if you spam button presses to get past the cutscene and instant replay. I get this all the time.

I know this probably won't be included in the patch but I just would like to bring to attention the player progression/

Players's power stats developed twice as fast contact ratings. So every year, there would be more power and power guys until when it's only game-created players. There might only be 5-10 contact guys.

Progression mode is seriously bugged in this year's version. I remember in 06 on the PS2 when they nailed the progression.

Not sure about this one...

Let's say that there's one out and a runner on first. If it looks like it could be a double play and I beat the throw, then it goes down as a fielder's choice. However, it shows up in my hit-track as an out, and it counts as an at-bat in the box score. Like an error or walk, it should not count as an at-bat... right?

And I think someone mentioned it, but if you hit a walk-off runners-on home run, watch through the cutscene. If the guy who hit the home run is mobbed on the basepaths and never crosses the plate, then he would not count as a run. There were two of these on the first page. For example, 1-1, and David Wright hits a walk-off home run with two runners on. If the team rushes the field and mobs your guy after only the one guy touches home, then yes, it would be 2-1.

Latest situation

Hanley Ramirez on first. Uggla up to bat.. nobody out.

First pitch strike
2nd pitch pitch out
Count 1-1

I decide to hit and run... I swing and miss.. strike 2 and Hanley steals second.

Count is 1-2 but Uggla is no longer the batter.. Willingham is up at bat now.

I'm like WTF.

So I look at the box score and game log. It doesnt even say what Uggla did. It just says "Ramirez steals second. Uggla."

The box score shows Uggla with an AB but no strike out. Also, an out was never recorded.

I went to the replay vault.. and after Uggla swung and missed, he walked away like he struck out even though it was only 2 strikes. No strikeout, no out recorded. Nothing reported in game log.

This has happened twice now.
this exact thing has happened to me.

You're wrong on the first example you gave. A fielder's choice counts as an at bat and no hit in statistics, so the scoring is correct in the game. Also, errors are an at bat and no hit. Walks do not count as an at bat.

As BIG17EASY mentioned, the game has this one right, a fielder's choice is scored as an at bat.

And the second example, while 'technically' correct, rarely happens in baseball (maybe 2 times in the last 20 years). More often all the players crowd around home plate and leave a space for the guy to walk in and touch home.

Yeah. The problem is that teams don't mob guys before they touch 'em all. Hopefully SCEA can address this, even though it's a relatively minor qualm.
