Rob_NYY...i'm assuming that you're a yankees fan...so there might be some things we cant agree on, but i totally agree with you about one thing. i'm HUGELY contemplating jumping to the ps3 mainly to own this game...and i've been impressed with so much. i havent been able to place my finger one whatever it is that is making me think "i'm just not sure" though about the show...and you hit the nail on the head...

i've only played 07 briefly, but watched many vids...and what you said sums up how i feel...it's an amazing, near perfect baseball game being played with mo-caps from 2004. the graphics seem polished and they look good...but the guys still move like its a ps2 game to me. but like i said, i havent played the demo...only 07.

so...i agree and would love to see more sig styles...but even more than that, i'd love to see some new mo-caps and some more accurate sig styles.

Re: Pet peeve (Signature styles) LONG POST

but why can't I have signature styles too? we pay 60 dollars for this game....it isn't free. Some are shelling out 500 plus just to play this game.

Exactly. I really couldn't pick most batting stances out of a lineup, however, we DO shell out bucks for game, so why not?

Yeah, I'm hoping SCEA are going to start fresh with the motions and stances for future games. All the new sig styles from 2K7 were stunning, I mean some of them look so good it's almost like they got the actual players to do them themselves. A lot SCEA's ones are just wrong.

For example, see Josh Beckett's new one this year (see the demo): For some reason he does a jump in his follow-through, like Mussina. Why did the mo-cap guy jump like that? Beckett doesn't do that at all. It's a little thing, not a huge deal. But for a game that prides itself on "little things," it's kind of strange that they get so many stances and motions wrong.

wow talk about nit picking! I have had to suffer for 2 years with 2k and trust me their sig style aint all that great. i mean from the looks of the demo josh beckets pitching is spot on! and i know for a fact 2k doesnt have him that good in their game.

Interesting post, Thanks B_B.

I don't have time to respond adequately to it right now, but I will soon. I just didn't want you to think I was ignoring you.

Man, these guys are always on it. Saturday night and Chris is on the boards.

I look forward to the response. I'm curious about the topic also.

Re: Pet peeve (Signature styles) LONG POST

This is nitpicking but at the same time its a legitimate complaint. When compared to 2K the styles arent as good. Sometimes they are close but a bit off...it is more noticeable for teams like the Yanks and boston whom I am most familiar with each player, for guys I barely know, they are good enough.

It is in NO way a gamebreaker, but it is an area that they can improve in. Even in the demo Mannys stance was noticeably a bit off. Not by alot buy by enough that I noticed.

But dont get it confused, the Show is better and more enjoyable in everyway, a given pitcher may not look totally like their counterpart, but they will feel more like the couterpart.

Re: Pet peeve (Signature styles) LONG POST

I hear what you are saying, but at the end of the day what would you rather have:

A game with a bunch of sig styles that plays like ****

Or...

A game that is the closest to representing sim baseball in the entire history of video games with a few less sig styles?

Yes, I agree, we all want everything. I was seriously disappointed when I heard there wasn't fireworks this year, as I thought they had most if not all HR celebrations in the game. For as well as they have the fan interaction aspect of this game down, that is one thing that I thought was sorely lacking. But at the end of the day, I can live with it, because I know there isn't another game out there that gives me a truer sense of playing video game baseball than The Show.

I'd rather have everything...except the "plays like ****" part...lol. Seriously though, I think The Show is the better game by far and it's really cool that the SCEA team is on top of all our concerns...even the more minor ones.

The Show 07 was an awesome game, while 2K7 was decent (at best). But one area where 2K7 blew The Show completely out of the water were the signature styles. 2K7 didn't have as many, but the ones they did have were all pretty much perfect. And I would venture to say that most of the signature pitching styles in The Show are inaccurate. There just seems to be something wrong with a lot of them. It's hard to put a finger on it, but it sometimes seems the guy doing the motions seems to drift through the balance point on every delivery, and pitchers with good mechanics just don't drift like that.

With the game almost perfect in a lot of area's, I hope re-doing all the signature motions and stances is something that is on the menu for The Show 09 and 10. It's kind of lame having this great awesome next-gen masterpiece with mo-caps from 2004.

Honestly, this is pretty much my only gripe with the series.
Rob_NYY....I agree. It is hard to put a finger on it. Some are slightly off but some are REALLY off the mark. Now I wouldn't mind as much if they just gave Johan Santana and others generic sig. styles. But when it's stated that they do have sig. styles and I can honestly tell it's not, it just makes me shake my head. Where did they capture that sig. style from?

If you read my original post, you'd see that I listed gameplay AND sig. styles as things I view as the most important aspects of the game FOR ME. If I wanted to play a baseball game with great gameplay and completely generic styles for everyone, I'd still be playing High Heat. Having Randy Johnson, Jimmy Key, and Tom Glavine all look the same with just different numbers on their backs, didn't immerse me in the game. Sorry. If I'm facing Roy Oswalt or Micah Owings I want to feel like it's really them out on the hill, otherwise what's the point? Baseball, more than any other game has a lot of individual styles incorporated within the game. Why wouldn't I want that in my video baseball game.

u don't have to agree with others' views....
but u should respect them and not downplay them.

Bronk bonin has legitimate issues, he presented his concerns in a well thought out non-offensive manner....so what's wrong?

I too am most concerned about gameplay and absence of bugs...but why can't I have signature styles too? we pay 60 dollars for this game....it isn't free. Some are shelling out 500 plus just to play this game. people deserve the best. ( so far it has been the best)....but that doesn't mean the best can't get better.

I'd love to see most of the phillies stars have sig styles to them....it would be awesome and will add much much more to immersion...which is a HUGE thing imo in baseball games.

Without people like bonin, games would stay stagnant.
Thanks man. I thought I was on an island all alone. At least I know I'm not nuts now. Hahaha

You're right this game is a great sim experience. It's the best game of baseball I've ever played, hands down. That's why I just spent $400 on a new PS3 and a used copy of MLB 07. I will never play another baseball game on the 360 again. I'm completely sold. Does that mean I'm 100% satisfied as a consumer? Don't I have the right to want more so the game plays even closer to real life MLB action? We all have access to Chris and Kolbe, who make themselves available to us, so why is it so wrong that I post a legitimate concern? Like I said, if they didn't tout the game as having all the sig. styles they do, I wouldn't be saying to them that they're off with some of them. One guy mentioned that Wang's delivery was off and they fixed it for 08. It blows my minds that Chris and Kolbe are so accessable and responsive to what we're looking for here.

It's unclear to me that someone would care about fireworks and fan interaction with foul balls but doesn't care if the players look and act like they do when they're at bat or on the mound. Hey to each their own I guess.
