There are probably less than 30 motions and stances that are accurate and look great. That's pretty sad considering almost every other part of the game is top notch.

That's like getting a brand new sports car. It's fast, it's beautiful, everything about it is perfect. But, uh oh, the air conditioning doesn't work. "Eh, no big deal, I'll roll down the windows and deal with it. Everything about the car is perfect, I'll deal with the A/C not working."

^^That's pretty much what I've been doing with The Show '08. Every other part of the game is so good, so I'll deal with the terrible stances and motions. Well, it's been a year. Time to get that A/C fixed.
one thing i will give them over mlb 2k8...is that mlb 08 has a way deeper list of stances...even though 75% of those stances are inaccurate...

I think many of stances and pitching at the beginning of the season or during the season. For example; Carlos Pena he did bat upright for the last two years and now he his squatting for his stance. Chipper Jones bats different from the left and right side. So to me the stances are going be off.

And those are the ones that just stood out to me. Some of them are good, it's just the follow through that makes them inaccurate. It seems like the same person did a lot of these and for some reason he did the same "hop unrealistically into fielding position after the pitch" motion exactly the same for so many guys who just don't ever do that.

Then you have some pitching motions like Andy Pettitte, CC Sabathia, and Johan Santana who just look atrocious and not even CLOSE to their real-life motions. Then you have Randy Johnson's and Mike Mussina's inaccurate motions that's been in the game since MLB 2006.
Ahh the infamous pet peeve post has resurfaced.

Rob, thats a great lengthy list you compiled there, just needs Tim Lincecum added & perhaps Josh Johnson.
Maybe Chris will comment on who's handling the pitching motions & how many have been redone. We already know the batting stances should be taken care of.

Yeah, the pitching motions scare me.

For some reason, I'm optimistic that the batting stances will finally be done well. I also think that Batting Stance Guy also did follow-through's and much better player-specific HR moves. We'll just have to wait for gameplay vids to see for ourselves though. I kinda wish you were going to the little SCEA thingy they are doing this year. I hope somebody from that group represents the batting stances and pitching motions crowd well and checks it out for us.

Hopefully, all the bitching and complaining we did after '08 will pay off big time.

Hundreds Of Personalized Animations shows you recognizable, personalized player animations for everything from walk-ups, rituals, stances, swings – even emotions. All told more than any other baseball game on any platform. Guaranteed!

this makes me hopeful for some serious revamping of the stances and swings....plus they are even talking about player-specific "emotions"!

Re: Pet peeve (Signature styles) LONG POST

With us previewing the game one month out from release I'm not sure how much, if anything is really up for change. I'm doubting we can walk in there with a list of changes.

As important at the stances/deliveries may be we still have roster makers who can make adjustments. I know some of you guys want every players stance/pitching motion in the game, but even some of them are arguable when the final product is out. Just take a look at how many guys agree to disagree on whether a guy is currently holding his hand in such and such a position, etc.
