My slider adjustments and my problem with slider adjustments.

Slider adjustments are things that I try to avoid if at all possible. With games in the past, the more I obsess about the sliders having realism, the less I enjoy the game. If I can't get a certain result (too many/not enough walks, for example) I start over analyzing the whole game. With that said, I love this game because of the very small amount of tweaking that it needs for ME to get a realistic game.

Here is what has worked for me:
Hall of Fame
+2 CPU Contact
+1 CPU Power
-2 CPU Timing Window
-2 CPU Pitching Aggression

-2 User Contact
-2 User Timing Window
-3 or -4 User Pitch Command

I think that's about it.

I get games that are high scoring (12-15 total runs combined for both teams, for example 7-5) and games that are low scoring (3-1).

There are issues like stolen bases and not enough walks (CPU seems to throw too many strikes on 3-2 counts) that I don't care to try to fix because of the reasons I listed above, but all things considered, I am very much enjoying the way I have the game now.

If a game can ever successfully implement a system where the CPU can "sense" your strengths and weaknesses and make it so all of this slider adjustment is unnecessary, I would pay $100 for the game alone and if I had to buy a new system, I'd do that, too.

These look like they are worth a try. I have been looking for a set that gives a good variety of scores. Many for me are too low scoring. Thanks for posting these up.

I will give these a try too. I've been playing with everything close to default but I'm only striking the cpu out 2 or 3 times per game, no matter who I'm using. It seems like when I get 2 strikes on them, they're going to put it in play no matter what or no matter where I pitch it.

Re: My slider adjustments and my problem with slider adjustments.

One SUPER important thing that I left out that really adds to my enjoyment of the game! I can't believe I left it out!

What I forgot to mention was that I turn off the pitching icon completely. No fade, no nothing. For those of you that don't know what I am talking about, I am referring to the floating icon that you use to place your pitch location. By turning this off, you have to learn exactly how much each pitchers pitches break and "feel" the strike zone. To me, just pinpointing a location isn't at all like actual pitching. Without the icon, it feels like I am actually aiming like a pitcher would in that I am throwing to a zone, not to a pinpoint location. This causes me to give up a more realistic amount of walks and I give up more runs too.

As for results, I play one of every 3 games in my franchise (play one, sim two, play one and so on) with the Braves. My record in franchise is 21-25. Of the games that I have played, my record is 9-9.

Warning, with these sliders and with the pitch location icon turned off, you had better learn how to keep the ball out of the middle of the plate or the other team will hammer you. Don't get discouraged after your first game or two giving up a lot of runs. It takes a little practice. Once you get it, you will never go back.
