Old Man Realism (4.0)

Hey guys. I've been having some success with this particular slider set so I thought I'd share them. They are geared more towards the older crowd or for anyone whose reflexes just aren't what they used to be.

Settings I use:

Difficulty: All-Star
Guess Pitch: Off (I have not tested these sliders with it on, so I'd advise you to do the same. The lower pitch speed should help those making the transition from GP On to GP off)
Baserunning: Auto
Fielding: Auto
Throwing: Manual
Pitching & Batting View: Catcher (A switch to outfield view when pitching might help anyone who finds pitching too easy)
API: On (I find that most of my strikeouts come when I shake off the CPU's fastball and throw something offspeed on the corner at the knees)
Drawing walks: Take pitches until you are thrown a strike for atleast 90% of all at-bats. Take every 2-0 pitch unless there's a RISP. Alot of the time, in 2-1 counts, a pitch on the edge gets called for a ball. Be selective. The first inning of every game should be where you are examining the release point of the opposing pitcher. Watch where his hand ends up, and label that to a spot in the stands. That is where you should be looking before the ball is thrown. It will help you recognize pitches earlier.

*For franchises, make sure to max spending in ALL development areas.

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)

Looks good man, I'm running a franchise with the old man's previous set and it was becoming a hit fest for me, I'll implement these into my franchise and run with them for awhile.

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)

Have to admit that I'm really impressed man. Played an exhibition game against Chicago (AL) and I was the Orioles. Only one home run hit in the game and the White Sox scored twice on doubles. Probably the best experience I've had on All-Star yet. I was getting 10+ hits a game with the old set. I'm using these in my franchise. Note: I used classic pitching and kept the pitch speed at 5.

CHI - 4-8-2
BAL - 3-7-1

They are default, I don't think they work anyways, but I could be wrong.

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)

Sure thing, finished my first franchise game with these. Won 5-3. What I loved the most is there were no home runs in the game. Every set I've tried for the past month, it seemed that was the only way the AI would score. Not with these.

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)

Wow. I've seen the exact opposite. Although now the teams are heating up a little. Now it's around 1-2 homeruns per game after a 3 game power outage. I'm using V 2.0

Re: Old Man Realism (4.0)

Check the link below my sig for my last two games. A 4-3 win and a 6-4 loss. Really great all around stats. Both the CPU and I are scoring in all manners. This is the best set I've used this year.

Looks pretty good but where are the walks? That would drive me nuts. Glad you're enjoying them.
