Creating The *** "Perfect" Slider Set ***

Now, please dont open this thinking im so conceited i think i have found perfection or even close to it, i havent, however what i have done is create a set of sliders for All Star (you can use them on HOF if you want but they are mainly for AS) that i believe gives me, and hopefully you, the greatest balance of gameplay we can currently find.

I have created a spreadsheet and included what i consider to be the "top 4" slider sets in here, namely SkyBoxers, HighHeats, Nemesis' and Pareds. Ive put them against each other, averaged figures to a certain degree, tested each set seperately and now i have basically merged what i believe to be the "strongest" part of each set to create this "perfect" set. I also tried default for a while so i could measure the changes against the box, so to speak.

I have then extensively tested this "merged" set, played and tweaked, played some more and tweaked some more and now i feel they are good enough to release to the unsuspecting Show playing world!

Some of you may remember i did this for MLB 2K7 and without blowing my own trumpet, i like to think it was the busiest and most appreciated set in there, i certainly got many a PM saying that, so i do know a thing or two about sliders, but certainly dont pretend to be any sort of genius. Im not going to list any settings such as API on/off, guess pitch, PCI etc, as they are all your individual choice, suffice to say i have any user help feature off.

Please dont play 2/3 games with these, see some results and stats you think odd and come on here bleating, they need time show the variation they give and to even out.

Please, show patience and these sliders shall reward you!

Ive been slowly putting these together since i got the game and am getting every sort of game imaginable, blowouts, pitchers duels, comeback wins, wide wins, 2/3 run games, all sorts, these sliders really have opened up this already amazing game to me even more.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated, i can certainly take any constructive criticism on the chin, after all we all only want the same thing, to make the game play as realistically as it possibly can.

I think the key thing for me with this set i have found can be summed up in this statement:

"Play well, hit your spots, time your swings and you can win, but not all the time, play badly, miss your spots and mistime your swings, you will lose, but not all the time"

Just like real Baseball folks.

So, without further ado, heres my opening effort on this years game and indeed this forum, presenting...

Re: Creating The *** "Perfect" Slider Set ***

I'll be trying them out.
Thanks Psycho.

The only thing I'll be doing right off the bat is raising the CPU Arm Strength. Once I saw the CPU throw directly to the bases....I can't go back!

If it is clear, then it has gone over my head. You do realize that as of yesterday, meaning one day ago, you said you were sticking with AS Default for at least 100 games? Now either you found a "speed of light" fast play mode, or you were lying that you were playing AS Default so much. And I don't mean "lying" in a dirty, scumbag way. But I am curious as to why you started that other thread and spoke about using AS Default and getting great games, and now you are saying you have been testing and testing these sliders.

Again, not trying to call you out, just not understanding your motive.

From everything I've read from Brian, it seems that less is more. I don't understand what slider affects another other than those specifically mentioned by Brian. Does everything "jive" with all the changes you've made?

This brings back memories of the other game....here's to hoping that the perfect slider set can make this game as fun as that one was when it was introduced. Cheers Psycho

No worries, no offence taken.

The main reason for the default thread was to see if i could glean any more opinions on how the game plays "out of the box" for more than just me i.e. to get a better sample size. I have been testing and building these since i got the game, just as i have with Nems, Pareds, Skys and HighHeats, i have them all saved on my PS3 and have been playing a stupid amount of games till 3/4 in the morning most days (wife not happy as you can imagine!), i guess that other thread was basically a way of trying to glean as much information on default as possible other than what i had so i could see what effect the other slider set changes were having.

It seems to, at least for me, im not claiming "perfection", far from it, but overall im getting the whole variety of challenging gameplay i want.

You can only try and see for yourself, like i said and the poster above this said, i did this last year for the other game and it really did take off and work a treat....im hoping for the same here!
