Re: Creating The *** "Perfect" Slider Set ***

Id doubt it as i imagine the mechanics of the two games work differently.

rspencer and hustlin...great stuff, look forward to hearing about your experiences/box scores over a sustained period

Hey Psycho, little curious about something. You say that you dont use the L stick for hitting and only use contact for swinging, avoiding using the power swing, is this basically timed hitting then? If you arent using the L stick then isnt the batter always swinging right down the center of the plate everytime? If so, then I would imagine thats why you are seeing such hit variety because something on the outside half is getting hit off the end of the bat at times. I would think using the L stick would help with hitting but it sounds like you are having more success without using it, just wondering is all, thanks.

PHI 4 11 1
CIN 5 13 1

Previewed tomorrow's game with Hendrick pitching for the Phillies and Fogg was pitching for me (Reds). Fogg went 6IP with 7K's. HRs were Griffey, Howard and Dunn it a walk-off in bottom of 11th.

Game was over in the 9th with two outs routine ground ball to Keppinger however he commits a throwing error allowing Rollins to score from second and tie the game to go to extra innings.

Re: Creating The *** "Perfect" Slider Set ***

Psycho
For what its worth here are my results after the first two games as Atlanta

Gm 1
Pit 2 6 0
Atl 3 10 2

Jurjens WP 6.1 IP 5 H 3 K

Both Pit runs unearned
Three extra base hits. 1 by CPU (HR LaRoche)

2nd Gm have box score

Atl 3 12 1
Fla 2 8 1

Smoltz WP 7.2 IP 7 H 2 BB 3 Ks 1 ER
Hendrickson LP 5.0 IP 8 H 0 BB 7 Ks

Atl - 3 2Bs 1 HR
FLA- 1 2B

- Basically the same game. I get ahead on pretty much every hitter 0-2, 1-2 and then they take every border line pitch or foul it off to bump up the pitch count. This has happened with every single slider Ive tried.
- They never dont drive the ball much. Never feel like I make a mistake pitch.
- However, my pitchers did feel like they hit a wall around 100 pitches which for a young guy and old guy is good.
- Im not making any judgments on your sliders (Im skeptical that sliders do much because all my games are the same) just pointing out what happened.
- Im having a hard time catching up to a fastball with these for what its worth. Im 14-2 in my franchise.
- Havent lost a game Ive started since the very first one and I know Im not that good. Im not that dominant a pitcher

If you would like Ill keep posting for your information.

EDIT- One more Game

ATL- 7 13 1
FLA- 4 9 0

WP Tim Hudson 5.2 IP 7 H 4 R 2 ER 3 BB 2 K
LP Segro Mitre 5.0 IP 8 H 6 R 6 ER 1 BB 3 K

ATL 2 2B 1 HR 5 K 2 BB
FLA 2 2B 1 3B 5 K 3 BB

- 3 of FLA runs were scored in weird 4th (Error, RF diving and just missing ball going to the wall WP)
- Segro Mitre sucks and I drilled him for the most part.
- It does feel like starters can struggle with control. Never felt like I was in trouble to lose the game though. Surprised to only get 2 Ks
- My team is making an error a game, and another bobble or two
- Fish did hit better but didnt drill me. Of course they are the fish so will withhold judgement.
- A little more offense in the this game, but never felt like I was going to lose it (again playing FLA).

Nope, not the case at all fella. Yes it is basically timed hitting but the swings are always done in relation to the ball, if its high he'll swing high, low and in he'll try and uppercut through that part of the zone etc, each swing happens correctly to how it should.

Yeah, i was going to say, play a much better team over a few games and see how you get on, most people beat up on the Marlins

Exactly what i was going to say, and exactly how my last 2 games just went as well, one pitchers duel followed by a hit/run fest.

Like i keep repeating, over time these sliders will give the wide variety of games we all crave.

First tweak chaps, just a very minor one.

Im getting stolen bases just slightly too easy (not 100% of the time but too many and not all with speedsters) and so is the CPU, so ive made the first change to the set, a slight reduction on Baserunner Speed for both the human and CPU, down 1 click from -2 to -3.

Changes in green.

Should we also increae Infielder throw speed and does that even apply to catchers?

Nope, as that would be a double change to what i think is a very tiny issue at the moment, i might do that if it still becomes an issue but thats down the line, as for it applying to catchers i dont know, i guess it would as hes an infielder so to speak.

Apply the latest tweaks and see how you go Owl.

Oh thats the only change I did make ( raised infield throw strength also helps on some weak double play throws) as I was having a hard time throwing out avg runners even on pitchouts . But I will adjust both and see what happens . Feedback to come
