Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)

Hate to ask the golden question but I'm starting a new franchise (better than season mode right?) and want to make sure I'm good to go:

1) Which # post has the latest sliders?

2) Which roster set works best? Knights? Which version specifically?

Thanks for doing these Nemesis!

Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)

Ok, duh, I found the lastest sliders. Another question to replace my original #1...when I enter an exhibition game to make these changes, can I simply quit the game and then save them as a sliders file? I want them to be ready and available, likewise with the rosters, for any mode I decide to play in.

Thanks for the help...why didn't SCEA just make ALL sliders available in the slider menu?!?! Strange!

The latest set you can get by clicking on the link in my sig. As far as rosters go, I would use Knight's post trade set. Lately I have just been playing with SCEA's last roster update.

If you have any questions let me know. Thanks for using them.

Yes, if you save them they should be ready to go when you load them back up.

I think SCEA made an error when they set it up. Some things were not caught and fixed in time.

Thanks Nem...

One last question...how do you guys work around the walk-off HR glitch? Is that still present? Should I just sim any bottom of inning with guys on base that is the 9th inning and beyond?

Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)

Nemesis, could you walk me through a typical strikeout against the CPU? What do you throw? Where do you throw it? When do you throw it? I'm getting strikeouts, and didn't have much trouble before, but I still have some games (more than "some" I guess) where I only strike the AI out 2-4 times.

I'm getting a ton of walks finally but that extra millisecond I wait on a pitch makes it tricky to pull the ball. Man, when you get ahold of a curveball though...see ya!

Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)

I am using Knight's opening day rosters so perhaps this has something to do with it, but I am getting crushed by the AI while I pitch. I am last in HR's allowed and my ERA has been soaring; at least for my starters. I'm also last in K's while pitching. My relievers have actually done a nice job...my starters do well for about 3 innings and then get torched. What gives?

I am using classic pitching because I had thought that's what Nemesis recommeneded, however a few posts back I saw mentioning of using the new/meter pitching.

Could someone enlighten me? I'm FINALLY getting all kinds of hits, I'm actually 6th in doubles through about 20 games, and even have the league leader in walks! Now I just need to improve my pitching. I don't mind being hit around but I don't think I'm getting a fair shake here.

Is it the roster? Meter pitching? My approach to pitching? All 3? Thanks for the insight!

I would continue with the classic pitching. Overall, that is the way to go for 08. As far as getting K's, if your starters are successful for 3 innings and then run into trouble it sounds like you are getting predictable with your pitch sequence. I am sure you know you have to mix your speeds and location consistently for each at bat. You also have to not be afraid to throw out of the zone to get cpu batters chasing especially when you have 2 strikes on them. The cpu batters pick up on your pitching tendencies pretty quickly, they seem to focus on patterns and punish you. If you are giving up too many homers, then you are hanging around the zone too much!

Also, are you using the pitch analysis tool to see where you are succeeding and failing?
