Pared's Gameplay Tweaks

Love the game on default as it doesn't need major slider changes. HOWEVER... try out these little adjustments and you should feel the game "open up."

If a slider is not listed it's obviously not changed from default.

All values listed are either + (right) or - (left) 10 from default.

CPU


Hit Quality -8
Power +2
Fielding Reaction Time -4
Timing Window +10
Foul Tip Percentage -2
Ground Ball Error Freq +1

Player 1


Hit Quality -8
Power +2
Fielder Speed -2
Timing Window +5
Foul Tip Percentage -2
Ground Ball Error Freq +1

(Forgot to add these):
Pitch Count +1
Wind +4 or +5
HOF Difficulty


These address most of the issues people have with the hitting system. They don't artificially inflate stats or anything but allow for a wider variety of hit types. Play a couple of games BEFORE making any conclusions.

You can do either but I wrote these down from within the game menu. It might be less confusing there.

one thing in the games i've played that i find make the cpu hit better is to set human pitch movement to 0 (farthest to the left), it doesn't seem to affect my control as i still walked 5 hitters in my last game, classic pitching by the way.

Had a 12 inning game that was perfect using these sliders.

Cubs (Me) had 3 runs on 9 hits

Marlins (Cpu) had 2 runs on 10 hits

So far so good. Great sliders!!

Nice. Get in a few games and you'll see the difference in quality of hits. More varying types of doubles, better CPU offense and so forth...

Wow... CPU offense improves enough even with hit quality reduced? Timing window is that important? And do these make human offense tougher? I keep looking for a way to get less than 15 hits a game, but with the Mets it just seems automatic.

I use the Mets myself and you should see comparable numbers with these settings. A solid base to work from.

I've tested this setup with the Mets, Yankees, Red Sox, A's, Twins, Pirates, Royals, Braves, Phils, BJays (haha), Rangers, White Sox, Mariners, Dodgers, Cubs, Indians and maybe some others I can't recall. Used their 1,3, and 5 starters and repeated the game to see if there was variance.

I'm sure you'll be surprised if you give these a shot through a few games. The CPU offense is certainly more potent, especially against the better teams.

That certainly is some thorough testing.

Any theory on steals? With Reyes and Castillo, every attempt is a guarantee. I don't even have to lead off in most cases.
