Re: Knights End of Season Set

I agree with making Cutch an A potential, due to his performance, but changing players potential might landslide into a great debate after looking at several current B prospects on the online update that could be considered A's at the beginning of the season. Matt Wieters for example. It seems that the online updates have reasonably rated players for the restriction of the number of A prospects available. As Knight is aware, there really are only 3-4 non-real players available to edit prior to using created players which is capped at 19, I think.

You've done your homework I see.
There are 6 A's...1 SP 5 PP's plus the 19 CAPS.
I've changed Wieters as at his age I think he's handled the MLB pretty good for a rookie....and he was the top rated prospect at the seasons start.
On that note...McCutchen has been even better...hitting 11 homers opposed to Wieters' 5(granted 100 more AB's for Cutch). But I think he deserves the A rating as well.

Just my 2 cents on the topic

I'm sure Knight's got it handled
Agreed. Changes probably shouldn't be drastically made because of an off year. Major power changes for Winn and Wright etc. would at least, I'd assume, non-realistically affect franchise mode. Based on this season, Matt Stairs would have zero contact but ceiling high power since he only hits grand slams and Garrett Jones would be the second coming of Babe Ruth.(19 HR in 239 AB).

I agree, Wieters should've been an A on the updates.

I agree wholeheartedly.
I don't like to make drastic changes in rosters to base franchises off of.
Single season sets....that's another thing altogether.....I try and rate them /450 AB's and then try to limit them with durability(in most cases)
Myself....I'm a believer in SCEA's method for coming up with their ratings(the weighted three year method.)
David Wright is a prime example.
If I was to give him a 35-30 power, is that really realistic? Sure he would hit 9 homers in your first season replay....then be inching towards hitting 10 in the second season only to see he's found his swing back and he's got 18(IRL) by next July!
I don't like to chase yearly stat numbers.
What I don't mind doing is weighting in this years numbers for changes in players ratings(and it won't be 50 % for me either in some cases)

I've also changed my base numbers for certain attributes after studying the progression all year. Nothing crazy, just slight increases in what I use as the base number to start prospects and now draft picks with. Contact-power(obviously) H/9,K/9,control and break(individual)

I like that idea also Knight. Players have up and down years...sometimes drastically. Maybe they're really unlucky...maybe it's a lingering injury. In most cases they return to their average levels the following year (unless age is a factor)

I'm really excited about starting a new dynasty...did you say you had a version out already without players edits and a new one will be coming out later with your edits?

No...not yet.
I'm still working on it.
I finished the top 40 prospects...the top 35 draft picks....some other odds and ends players that needed creating....some changes to SCEA created players that needed potential upgrades. Last night I just wanted to take what I have done and play out 10 years of franchise to see how it plays out and make some adjustments to my created players if necessary.
Once I clean up the set...I will put out a version as stated above without any other minor leaguers being done.(by cleaning up....as guys who have seen my sets before completion...I grab players and change their names to their potential rating as I move them around to make it easier when I'm looking to shuffle guys here and there...so you see a lot of Ted C and Lucas D on the FA list and scattered around the league)
I will now begin filling in the rest of the prospects and minor leaguers and let you know when that is done.
Then it's just setting the 40 man...rotations...lineups ....levels and it's done.
It's going surprisingly quick(I guess because I've done it before this year and it's still fresh.)

Re: Knights End of Season Set

you all have a valid point but when a player continually change their batting stance like david wright to make adjustment to a new stadium to regain his power stroke you have to ask yourself was he really a power hitter or gap hitter why is it player like mark strikeout reynolds who enter spacious citi fields hits 2 bombs to upperdeck wright cant adjust in citi field if i can recall matt holiday was said to be just a product of coors fields now he is in bush stadium proving everybody wrong
